I'm sure Derrick Brooks, a former BOT member and well connected person at FSU has no idea what he's talking about though.
Latest reports claim the Big 12 will pay FSU's entire ACC buyout.

Yeah, I'm sure a well connected, former player and BOT member would have absolutely no idea what's going on at the school.

Well, I still don't think Derrick Brooks has any idea what's actually going on with the college administration.
That said, if there ever was a time to flee the ACC, this would be it, as the new Big 12-SEC agreement basically makes four major football conferences and leaves the ACC in the dust with the Big East.

80% of ACC TV revenue comes from football, yet UNC and Duke run the conference. No wonder FSU and Clemson are leaving the dumpster fire before the toxic fumes relegate them to Duke level football.

Notre Dame to ACC for all sports except football. ND football will play 5 games anually against ACC competition though.

I guess that's a good thing for the ACC, but it's not loss to the Big East. Just gets rid of one of many programs that don't play football for them.

Weakens the basketball side even further. It hurts the Big East a little not to mention the former commissioners used to let ND run everything because they were always scared of this and now they left anyway. The leadership of the conference effectively killed it.

This also still allows Notre Dame to keep Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, USC, and Navy on their schedule while scheduling two cupcake games. Smart move for them.
People aren't considering that when criticizing them for not fully joining. A game against Michigan makes them way more money than a game against Duke. Also, this allows them to have their own TV deal and not share revenue, which of course is what this is all about.

What is ND getting out of this anyway? Why make the move?

Easy. If the conferences ever go to jumbo mode, this saves them from having to scramble to fill their schedule. This is really the best of both worlds for Notre Dame. They keep their network, they keep their rivalry games, and they have 5 guaranteed conference games to fill out the schedule.

ND would never have to scramble for anything though. Everyone still worships them.

The ACC is also now increasing their exit fee to $50 million for any school that leaves.

This also improves their bowl game options, and ACC basketball is now better than the Big East. No-brainer move the more I think about it. No reason not to do it.

I didn't buy any of the Florida State, Clemson, name-your-ACC-school nonsense about them jumping to the Big 12 and the increase in exit fee now only confirms that whoever is in the ACC now will stay there.

Strengthens every other sport, even football, while keeping most if not all of their revenue. This was a move made primarily for sports outside of football, and still keeps their independent label.

I know how you feel. You'll be in the Big 12 soon enough though since they don't care about academics. Who the hell knows where Rutgers ends up.

The Big East non football wasn't bad. It doesn't matter though. I've said it a million times over the last 2 years that the former leadership of the Big East killed the conference and we're still dying a slow death.

I've been of the belief that the Big 12 will have to move to 12 teams in order to keep up with the Jones' so to speak. When that time comes they'll invite Louisville and either BYU or Cincinnati. My thoughts: it will be Louisville and Cincinnati.
