Just for shits and giggles, here is a list of everyone from both rosters in that game who got drafted, in the order they were picked. I'm including freshmen who didn't play, as long as they were listed on the official roster, they're on this list. Obviously, the further you go into the years, the less impact these guys had on either USC or Texas in 2005.

2006 Draft
Reggie Bush, 2nd overall
Vince Young, 3rd overall
Michael Huff, 7th overall
Matt Leinart, 10th overall
Winston Justice, 39th overall
Deuce Lutui, 41st overall
LenDale White, 45th overall
Cedric Griffin, 48th overall
David Thomas, 86th overall
Frostee Rucker, 91st overall
Dominique Byrd, 93rd overall
Darnell Bing, 101st overall
Jonathan Scott, 141st overall
David Kirtman, 163rd overall
LaJuan Ramsey, 204th overall
Fred Matua, 217th overall
Rodrique Wright, 226th overall

2007 Draft
Michael Griffin, 19th overall
Aaron Ross, 20th overall
Justin Blalock, 39th overall
Dwayne Jarrett, 45th overall
Steve Smith, 51st overall
Tim Crowder, 56th overall
Ryan Kalil, 59th overall
Brian Robison, 102nd overall
Dallas Sartz, 143rd overall
Tarell Brown, 147th overall
Kasey Studdard, 183rd overall
Oscar Lua, 211th overall

2008 Draft
Sedrick Ellis, 7th overall
Keith Rivers, 9th overall
Sam Baker, 21st overall
Lawrence Jackson, 28th overall
Chilo Rachal, 39th overall
Fred Davis, 48th overall
Limas Sweed, 53rd overall
Terrell Thomas, 63rd overall
Jamaal Charles, 73rd overall
Jermichael Finley, 91st overall
Tony Hills, 130th overall
John David Booty, 137th overall
Frank Okam, 151st overall
Thomas Williams, 155th overall
Chauncey Washington, 213th overall

2009 Draft
Mark Sanchez, 4th overall
Brian Orakpo, 13th overall
Brian Cushing, 15th overall
Clay Matthews, 26th overall
Rey Maualuga, 38th overall
Fili Moala, 56th overall
Roy Miller, 81st overall
Patrick Turner, 87th overall
Kaluka Maiava, 104th overall
Henry Melton, 105th overall
Kyle Moore, 117th overall
Cary Harris, 183rd overall
Kevin Ellison, 189th overall
Chris Ogbonnaya, 211st overall

2010 Draft
Charles Brown, 64th overall
Jordan Shipley, 84th overall
Colt McCoy, 85th overall
Kevin Thomas, 94th overall
Roddrick Muckelroy, 131st overall

So if you had Ryan Kalil, Jamaal Charles and Steve Smith ending up as the best offensive players from the 2006 Rose Bowl, pat yourself on the back and submit your resume to NFL teams.

I think you just answered your question as to how much talent played in that game. Quite a few have had nice NFL careers too.

Reggie Bush is good. He's never not been good; just not utilized traditionally until recently. I'd take his body of work over Steve Smith's.

Edit: And actually, it's unfair to totally ignore Vince Young's first couple years. The stats weren't there, but he was sneaky effective because of his ability to keep the chains moving with his feet. He sucks now, but he had his moments.

90% of the players drafted in the NFL every year don't go on to have stellar careers regardless of whatever college game they played in. This isn't that big of a shock.

I'm aware but the 2006 Rose Bowl is widely regarded as the best college football game for the last half century, so it's pretty interesting to study. Also, the key stars on offense for both teams were hyped up for perennial All-Pro talent in the months leading up the draft.

First of all, wow. That is a **** ton of people drafted from those two teams.

Also how has Sam Baker looked? I thought he was pretty solid early and then I started hearing he was disappointing. Haven't heard much about him lately.

Never buy into the pre-draft hype for college players by analysts/scouts. There are so many variables into having a successful NFL career it's almost impossible to predict how someone's career will pan out.

Blalock ended up being a better OL for the Falcons than Baker was. Apparently he's charmin soft and got benched eventually.

Michael Griffin started off good, then, a couple years in he became WILDLY inconsistent from game to game. Last year he was pretty bad, yet still managed to get paid. The first two games of this season he has been complete ****.

Just sad, but not really all that surprising.

Man I remember that draft, remember when everyone wanted to stab Merril Hoge because he said he wouldn't touch any Quarterback in the first round not named Jay Cutler and everyone else, well most everyone (me included) said he was an idiot and that both Leinart and Young were top 10 worthy

He also said Kellen Clemens was better than Leinart and Young.

Henry Melton! Was probably a running back for the Rose Bowl now he is a beast of a DT.

I feel "bad" for him in the same way that I do for any broke celebrities who have a mountain of money fall into their laps at a young age: I don't feel bad for them at all, but I can't say that I wouldn't have made the same mistakes.

I learned to manage money by being an adult and being poor. A lot of these guys don't get to experience that until it's too late.

Melton is a monster, would love to have him on the Pats. Crazy combo of size, strength, and athleticsim. He's only going to keep getting better too.
