I always feel that teams that pick RBs in the first round are basically throwing away a draft pick, because it's just so easy to find some guy in free agency or in later rounds, plug him into your offense (especially if you have an elite QB like Eli Manning), and be fine.
Jerry Reese is a smart GM, but I don't know who was influencing him on the Wilson pick. It was just an awful decision. You win the Super Bowl with no running game, and then suddenly you decide you need a RB that badly? You just won the Super Bowl without one!

I posted this on the Browns MB on a threat that was titled.
"Re: Tha goodness we didn't draft David Wilson"
http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=149&f=1547&t=9381926&p=1
Reese once again shows why he is one of the best if not the best GM in football. Barden was another guy who has been here 4 years and basically has finally got his shot to play and did well. Brown had a great game too. In order to maintain "the next man up" philosophy you have to be good at developing depth and raw players.
But I understand what the original post was. We have giants fans wondering why WIlson hasn't had a shot yet. But he has to earn it. We are not going to hand it to him just because he is a 1st rounder. In the mean time why rush? We have Brown, Bradshaw, and Scott if needed. Wilson has some plays and will be used.
Same with Reuben Randle. Why rush him on the field? We have Barden, Jernigan, Cruz, Hixon and Nicks. Nicks and Hixon were both out. So add Barden to the starting role, and he has a break out game.
But yeah we do have some few fans angry that Wilson or other rookies aren't playing. But that's how we do things good or bad. Under Coughlin and with Reese as GM, fans have learned to be patient. If not, then drive themselves crazy, but don't drag us into it because we understand how things are run here.
Wilson will get his shot if he earns it. If not, he watches. In the meantime, our coaches will be patient.

Torrey Smith's brother just died in a motorcycle accident. He needs to be with family right now more than some game.

is he playing? I think it'd be tough to play but I haven't heard anything saying that he's not.
thoughts and prayers out to him though. Kinda puts everything into perspective

I just assumed he won't play. This is just a game, family is just way more important.

It is tragic news for him, especially reading some things about how he pretty much raised all his siblings. However, sometimes people grieve in different ways and maybe he will play. Whatever his decision is it must be an awful time for him and really puts things into perspective

We don't play rookies. Giants players develop slowly, they don't get thrown in the fire. That's a big reason why we have such great success with developing talent. They develop the right way.
Wilson will be fine. Next year he'll break out. This year he'll see sporadic touches.
He was my 2nd rated RB in the draft, and with his speed, underrated power, and character I'm sure he'll be fine. He just has to learn slowly, which he'll get the opportunity to do so here. Once he picks up pass pro and fixes his fumbling which is pretty much a lock under Coughlin, he's going to be a stud.

Sarah Walsh(ESPN) reported that Torrey Smith informed John Harbaugh that he wanted to play tonight.
Prayers and condolences go out to him and his family, he was an incredible brother/ father figure to all his siblings, I'm sure this loss is hitting him real hard.

To each their own. Obviously the Bucs had him rated higher and I'm sure plenty of teams had them ranked differently.

I can already hear the fantasy football goons blowing up his twitter if he didn't play.
