If Dooley doesn't win 8 games and his bowl game, then there's a chance Cut could be brought back as a HC. They went after him after the Kiffin debacle, but negotiations fell through because Cut wanted to bring his entire staff, while then AD Mike Hamilton wanted to keep the coaches who stayed, such as Jim Chaney and Lance Thompson. That likely wouldn't be the case this time, although Cut would be wise to keep a certain few.
