Check that, Spencer just didn't practice. Not saying it's good news

Aikman also played behind arguably the greatest offensive line in NFL history. Apples and Oranges IMO trying to compare to Tony, one thing Romo certainly doesn't have is an aggressive personality to hold people accountable. Troy would certainly give his receivers hell if they messed up a route or a lineman who blew an assignment. Now I'm not saying he should shove lineman like Cutler but he is the maestro of this orchestra and should demand excellence from the players around him.

Dear lord does it suck in here lately. I hate these debates about who's better when it comes to players who played in different era's.
Let's get back to talking about the game this sunday.

It's not that I'm not glad we have him. I'm glad and frustrated at the same time... if that makes sense. He just needs to do a better job which he is fully capable of doing, but doesn't always do.

There hasn't been a RB who has run all over us yet, so I'm hopeful.
Is Ratliff coming back?

Marshawn Lynch did a pretty good job of that a few weeks ago.

Meh, I didn't think Lynch killed us. Our own mistakes played a big role... Felix fumble, Romo int.... What killed us was how sick the Seattle secondary was, imo. They were just smothering. Kept our offense off the field and simply tired our defense out.
Ray and his line has the ability to plain ole demoralize a defense from start to finish.. and yeah, it's a legitimate worry. I'm just trying to be hopeful. LOL.

Lynch didn't kill us but he took advantage of Victor Butler. His long run was after Butler bit inside.
Silva didn't help either by gifting a TD on blown coverage. Tha game is a mulligan though. All around abortion.
Ratliff will be back this week though and fingers crossed on Spencer. If we slow down Rice we force Flacco to win. I'm not scared of Flacco.

I don't know why Flacco is still not considered as dangerous as he actually is. While not sexy, he's pretty clutch.

Elite running game. Elite defense. He's not clutch...
Career playoff drives analysis by CHF:

Quote:
Then there’s the new entry, Joe Flacco. If anyone was looking for the ammo to hammer his “winner” reputation in the postseason (5-4 record), here it is. Despite having the best field position (34.47), Flacco is 20th in Pts/Dr, last in Yds/Dr, and only Dave Krieg led his offense to a higher rate of punts.
Flacco and the Ravens also most frequently go three and out on offense in the playoffs.
|
Quote:
|
Not to make this “Pile on Flacco day”, but he has a lot of glaring numbers in the playoffs. His average touchdown drive starts in opponent territory, including 5 touchdown drives that started in the red zone. Only Aikman and Montana had more with 6, but they started many more games. 27.8% of Flacco’s touchdown drives started in the red zone.
|
He's on an excellent team with one of, if not the best, running backs in the league. He has an opportunistic defense that provides optimal field positions. No doubt in the world he is playing his best football and presents a legitimate arm to burn us deep but he's been getting a lot of undue credit by pundits for his "clutch" play.

Can't blame a guy who knows how to use his weapons and doesn't make stupid careless mistakes.

Never thought about it before, but I'm not completely sold on that idea. Heck, I wonder if Orton would be better Romo to be honest. Talent wise Romo is better for sure, but I'm not sure about it when it comes to making decisions on the field.

I think you need to take back the comment about Orton. Orton is a very average QB, but I love him as a back-up.

Completely off topic, and I know it just started, but even before then when I watch Britt play, he gets opportunities to make plays when he's covered all the time. Hasselback will run jump ball fades, back shoulder fades, every single route he's covered on but it puts some air under it and lets him make a play.
I wish Romo would do that more often, but he's more of a timing, precision passer, and that's not really the style of Dez. When I think about it, I bet Britt wouldn't look half as good here. Look at most of his big plays over his career and how the ball was delivered. The only time I remember us doing that was when Kitna was the QB and that's when Dez made plays like the one in my sig, and since that time I can't remember Dez getting opportunities like that.
All that said, it's just an observation. Doesn't excuse either one of them playing the way they did. Dez was one of the best WR's in the NFL in catch rate last year, in fact I think he was 2nd in the entire league. He doesn't typically do that, I just think he's pressing. Or maybe mentally checking out. But he's a sure handed WR, so hopefully he'll get out of it at some point. I just think there is a lot to his game that we aren't utilizing properly.
