Manti vs. Mauti
Player A
69 tackles, 28 solo, 2.5 TFL, 0 sacks, 4 INTs, 0 FF, 2 FR
Player B
65 tackles, 36 solo, 3.5 TFL, 2.5 sacks, 3 INTs, 2 FF, 1 FR
Both through 7 games. Can you guess which one is the "clear Heisman candidate" and top of the Butkus lists while the other one is not on the Lombardi list at all?

I hate when people do these stat comparisons but I do love me some Michael Mauti!

Mauti is an absolute beast - such a great story being able to come back from injuries like that. He should be a second round guy.

And Khaseem Greene has better stats than both of them.

Player A's team is still undefeated and came into the season already hyped at the best of his position. It is what it is, everybody knows the Heisman is a joke (most years).

Ability-wise, yes, but his injury history is a major red flag.

As you can tell by my other posts(and sig lol), I just love Manti. And after what he has been through in his personal life and still didnt miss any football at all, just reinforces how much I love the guy. And his teammates love him as well.
You can say its homerism because Im an ND fan(Im also there most harsh critic too).
That being said, I also like Michael Mauti a lot. But honestly I could care less who wins the Heisman. If he does win it, thats great. But to me the Heisman as been a joke most of the time.
(And yes, Im gonna post this pic in another thread. lol)

The one that plays for the undefeated team? Mauti has played well, but you know that the defensive team as a whole often dictates some of these awards.

Did Notre Dame hire Boston College's statistician in the offseason? That is some disgusting stat padding.

Manti for heisman... Mauti is a great college linebacker but does not project nearly as well as Manti at the next level. That being said, Mauti should have a nice career somewhere while Manti is off to his homeland Hawai'i every February for the next 10-15.

The heisman has nothing to do with the NFL and how they translate...

It amazes me that only one poster has pointed out the idiocy of using stats to measure a freaking linebacker's performance.

not saying the OP doesnt have a point, but stats to compare linebackers...meh.
