Yeah, Fat Tire is one of the most overrated beers right up there with Blue Moon, Corona, Heineken and Sam Adams.

it's generally terrible outside the state. i don't really like fat tire that much here, either, but it's somehow much worse elsewhere.

nah, 2 below and whatever their last spring one was were pretty good. generally their seasonals are way better than their regulars.
blue moon, otoh, is absolutely horrific.

i've based all of their beers off of blue moon and fat tire, so i've never looked at their seasonals.

i'm actually pretty sure it's a spin off of coors.

There are too many suburban places that my friends like to go to that offer little more than those plus Labatt/Bud/Miller. I'm fine with Sam, though. Yeah, come at me.
Discovering all of the leftover beer from birthday celebration = yes. Decent assortment of Victory, Spaten, Anchor, Magic Hat, and, yes, some Sam. Plus some of the Titan that I had for myself and some random ciders.

I didn't pay for it. But I will drink it and I won't hate it.
But it's cool, I drank a bunch of Genesee on Sunday.

I liked the Sam Adams mini-brews they just put out, especially the Red.
Also, yay for KBC.

I'm OK with Oktoberfest, Alpine Spring and Boston Lager; I don't really like anything else by Sam though. The ones I listed above aren't great, but they range from very solid to definitely drinkable.
I think njx is biased because he went to school in Mass and probably grew tired of all the Sam-gasms New Englanders have whenever SA is brought up.

no, it's just mediocre beer. i'm sure there's one flavor that's tolerable. but it's like, the first baby step someone makes after they get sick of milwaukee's best.

It's definitely drinkable and if you don't have time to get to a distributor, it is often the best available at delis and drug stores (at least it was for me back when I lived on LI.....now, Duane Reade has plenty of option, but they're all ridiculously overpriced).

Octoberfest is great. Alpine Spring is good for the style. I'm not a fan of Boston Lager. I've not tried their IPA which I assume is at least drinkable. But when they have the Longshot Homebrew contest that set of beers is always a must have.

I thought the Sam Adams Oktoberfest was pretty average.

I'm not a huge fan of the style to begin with which might explain things.
