It's a bigger deal to a 23 year old player making millions than a billionaire owner. I don't know what's confusing about that.

Dang, The Nuggets extended Lawson for 4/48, great deal for them. He's getting paid the same amount as Serge Ibaka :p

Bahahaha at OKC being better off, ah how delusional you continue to be. PJ3 does not have basketball skills, people need to stop with this. He's athletic, but he has knee issues and has nothing that shows he'll be able to actually score in the league. Plus, he's not a particularly good rebounder for his size. I like Lamb, but not in the sense that he'll be a stud.
Terrific deal for the Nugs in the Lawson contract, though. He's an underrated stud.

At the end of the day, it was only around eight million. The only reason he's getting the extra 20million or so is because he got traded to the Rockets and they still haven't used their 5 year extension. If he got the max in OKC, or in FA, it would be without that extra year.
I really wouldn't be surprised to see him wilt in the spotlight when all the pressure is on his shoulders alone to succeed.

Oh I get it. You're just looking at it from a bank account perspective.
Ah well, in the NBA, every team has to account for this thing called the salary cap and luxury tax penalties (which may affect profitabiltiy). So how much you spend on your players actually matters. You can't just look back at your wallet and say "Meh, I can afford another $25M here...let's just spend it!"

Happy about this, we have all the core players locked up. Masai has done a great job managing this team.

He really has. Not only will they be awesome to watch, but I think they could win 55+ games and contend for the Title. Love them this year.

I dont think Denver is ready this year just due to their basketball IQ as a whole (JaVale will always bring that down) but give them a year or 2 and keep letting these young athletes develop and wow...
...they have quite the collection of athletic freaks.

Since this is a hot topic, here's Simmons' article on the Harden trade/disaster

Keep thinking otherwise. Nuggets acquired a top 25 player, the Thunder traded one away. Nuggets re-signed their star from the 2009 draft, the Thunder let him go. The Nuggets got rid of their deadweight (Al Harrington), the Thunder kept their deadweight around (Perkins). Literally the only advantage the Thunder have is Kevin Durant, but even then Iggy can give him fits despite their size difference.

Who else on their team has a low basketball IQ, exactly? Lawson/Miller/Iggy/Faried/Koufos are all pretty smart players. Wilson Chandler can be if he controls his shot intake. McGee is pretty dumb, but Koufos is starting anyway (and he'll be underrated by peeps).

More in the sense of young. They remind me of the thunder team that took the Lakers to 6 games in 2010? when we won it, back when they first made some noise. They had all the athletic ability to scare the **** out of anyone they played but they just weren't quite there yet from a experience perspective. IQ wasn't the right word....experience is.

Well, considering that the mainstream media never talks about them ever...yeah they pretty much are. Sans Gallo, he's probably about right where he needs to be.

Who gives a **** about the mainstream media? Aren't we all here specifically to avoid what the mainstream media has to say?

Lakers traded for the best Center in basketball. That's news worthy. It's your own fault for falling into the Knicks trolling in this thread. I still don't understand why you or anyone else responds to it.

The Thunder weren't winning a Championship the way they were currently built. They needed more inside presence and they knew it. Miami drove and drove and drove to the rim and nothing could be done. The Lakers just added Dwight. Without another strong inside presence next to Ibaka, all OKC had was a fighting chance. The kind of chance that is meaningless.
When teams make moves, fans love to take it as face value, but Presti is one of the best in the business. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see them flip Kevin Martin's valuable expiring contract into something more that could help them.

"They weren't winning a title they way they were currently built," even though they were 2 games away from it last year. They lost because they kept playing slow ass Perkins, who couldn't keep up with the speed that they had in LeBron, Wade, and Bosh driving to the lane. Playing a lineup of Westbrook/Harden/Durant/Ibaka/Collison or even a lineup like Maynor/Westbrook/Harden/Durant/Ibaka would have been perfectly fine in keeping up with a team like that. There's zero reason to say they weren't winning a title he way they were, considering how close they were last year. And trading their second/third (depending on how you look at it) most important player is a step in the wrong direction.

But I'm pretty sure Harden was told the option was either take the deal OKC offered him or be traded to Houston, which he knew had the 5 year extension available. So it basically was a 25 million dollar difference.
