Play him in AAA. Andrus' contract is good for two more seasons, meaning Rangers can move him for different position help during those years.

After White Sox and Cardinals had a successful season last year, how much pressure will Mike Redmond be under? lol. As long as he does not talk bad like Joe Girardi and Ozzie Guillen he will be fine. Girardi got canned for shutting the owner up in public. Guillen got canned for a pro-Castro comment.

Wow.... Brien Taylor is facing up to 40 years for crack cocaine abuse. Matt Bush has been in the jail for 2 DUI counts and could not afford to pay 440k bail.
Josh Hamilton is the turnaround champ, hands down.

Rangers are playing to win it all right now. I think they want to get something that can help them right away. Whether that's trading Profar or Andrus.

Nice trade for the Cubbies. Haren should do really well in the NL.

$9.8 million for a reliever who walked over 7 per 9 last year. Classy.

They weren't bringing Haren back anyway but this is still awful
They could have paid his buyout portion of $3.5 million, meaning whoever traded for Haren would have him for 1yr at $12 million. That's very appealing. Should have netted them a good return. Marmol was not that return
assuming they didn't throw in any money, they save around $5.7 million. Not that much really, and kind of pointless. I'd rather have a year of Haren at $15.5 million than Marmol at $9.8 million. Angels pen is riddled with guys who struggle to throw strikes, which is a HUGE problem for them collectively. They have just added probably the worst possible guy to that group. Very, very dumb trade and the first move by Dipoto I am vehemently against. Sick of having overpaid, mediocre RP's
It will be even worse when they sign that ass hole Greinke to a ridiculous contract...because they pretty much put their backs against a wall here and have to go ALL IN on him

Haren-for-Marmol NOT done. #Angels continue to talk to other clubs. #Cubs asked Marmol about teams on his no-trade and whether he would MORE

agree to trade to #Angels. Again, no deal with #Cubs is complete. Possible, but not complete.

UPDATE: TRADE IS OFF!

Source: Marmol would have OK'ed trade to #Angels, but #Cubs pulled deal off table and trade is not happening. Angels talking to other clubs.

Thank god!

Maybe something is wrong with Haren. I can't imagine why else the Cubs would pull out of that deal.

He'll get too much money IMO.

Only 3 things I can think of
1. Cubs found something wrong with Haren's back
2. Halos asked for something else along with Marmol and Cubs wouldn't do it
3. Cubs wanted the Halos to pay a certain amount of Haren's 2013 salary and the Halos wouldn't do it
either way, Angels declined Haren's option and he's now a FA

Soon say bye bye to Greinke.

Uh, you guys aren't on the hook for him for another 9 years at $24 million a year. I think it should be easy to get over that especially since its clear that you guys got his best years + 2 WS titles
Angels are the ones footing the bill for that success.

what is so stupid about declining Haren's option? Recurring back issues, decline in velocity and a marginal season last year does not warrant him making $15.5 million next season, not by a long shot
Angels payroll is now roughly around $112 million with them shedding Hunter, Ervin, Haren and then other filler scrubs(Hawkins, Isringhausen, Izturis) all off the books. They sported a $154 million payroll last year, so they have cash to tinker with now this offseason. Pujols and CJ's salaries increase slightly next year, and they have the arb elig. guys, so adding all of that they have roughly around $30-$32 million to spend this offseason, give or take. Good spot to be in
