Default November 3rd Mock Draft

My latest effort is below. The mock is based off of the current draft order as of October 31st; I have projected the playoffs myself. Let me know what you think!

November 3rd Mock Draft

1. Kansas City Chiefs - QB Geno Smith, West Virginia

Playing in Dana Holgorsen's Air Raid, Smith has captivated audiences and is widely projected to go first overall in April.

2. Carolina Panthers - DT Star Lotulelei, Utah

Dwan and Ron Edwards are currently starting at defensive tackle in Carolina; Lotulelei recalls Ravens star Haloti Ngata.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars - QB Matt Barkley, Southern California

Barkley is reminiscent of former third overall pick Matt Ryan and would fit perfectly into Mike Mularkey's offensive scheme.

4. Cleveland Browns - LB Jarvis Jones, Georgia*

Jones has drawn comparisons to Von Miller and could take over on for Chris Gocong, who is owed a $4.45m base salary next year.

5. New Orleans Saints - DE Barkevious Mingo, Louisiana St.*

Look no further than Baton Rouge to fix the pass rush; Will Smith won't be around to collect his $10.15m cap figure next year.

6. St. Louis Rams (from Redskins) - OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M*

Joeckel is the most natural left tackle in this year's class; Rodger Saffold would be allowed to slide inside to left guard as rumored.

7. St. Louis Rams - OT Taylor Lewan, Michigan*

At 6'7" and 310 pounds, Lewan plays just like Wolverines alum Jake Long and would complete St. Louis' offensive line rebuild.

8. Tennessee Titans - DE Bjoern Werner, Florida St.*

Kamerion Wimbley is playing well at right end but opposite him the Titans could do better than former first-rounder Derrick Morgan.

9. New York Jets - DE Damontre Moore, Texas A&M*

Moore's extensive experience dropping into coverage gives him the slight edge over Sam Montgomery for Rex Ryan's defense.

10. Cincinnati Bengals - DE Sam Montgomery, Louisiana St.*

Michael Johnson is set to become a free agent this offseason; finding a long-term compliment to Carlos Dunlap is necessary.

11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - CB Johnthan Banks, Mississippi St.

Dee Milliner may be the more highly-regarded cornerback prospect, but Banks is the best fit for Tampa Bay's man coverages.

12. San Diego Chargers - DT Johnathan Hankins, Ohio St.*

32 year-old Aubrayo Franklin is playing well in a rotation but shouldn't prevent San Diego from drafting someone like Hankins.

13. Buffalo Bills - CB Dee Milliner, Alabama*

Stephon Gilmore looks like the answer at one cornerback spot, but left cornerback Aaron Williams is starting to look like a bust.

14. Oakland Raiders - QB Tyler Wilson, Arkansas

Replacing Carson Palmer should be high on Oakland's wishlist, and they may be willing to reach on Arkansas' Tyler Wilson.

15. Detroit Lions - DE Alex Okafor, Texas

Okafor has seven sacks through eight games and could replace aging, overpaid right end Kyle Vanden Bosch next season.

16. Dallas Cowboys - OT Eric Fisher, Central Michigan

Doug Free's massive base salary will not be paid by the Cowboys next season; Fisher is a massive tackle with light feet.

17. Philadelphia Eagles - FS Eric Reid, Louisiana St.*

Nate Allen has settled in at free safety in Philadelphia, but the Eagles need to improve upon strong safety Kurt Coleman.

18. Arizona Cardinals - OG Chance Warmack, Alabama

The Cardinals have ignored their offensive line for too long; right guard Adam Snyder is among Arizona's worst starters.

19. Seattle Seahawks - WR Keenan Allen, California*

Keenan Allen is a steal this late in the draft; his incredible catching radius would make Russell Wilson's life much easier.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers - LB Manti Te'o, Notre Dame

Pittsburgh needs to add another inside linebacker to compliment Lawrence Timmons, and Te'o is an excellent fit and value.

21. Miami Dolphins - WR Robert Woods, Southern California*

Providing Ryan Tannehill with more weapons should be a priority; Woods could remind coach Joe Philbin of Greg Jennings.

22. Indianapolis Colts - DT Jesse Williams, Alabama

Indianapolis' defensive line has been its weak point thus far; Williams could replace Cory Redding or Antonio Johnson.

23. Green Bay Packers - OL Barrett Jones, Alabama

37 year-old center Jeff Saturday has failed to get a push in the run game; Jones has lined up at center, at guard, and at tackle.

24. Minnesota Vikings - WR Justin Hunter, Tennessee*

Sidney Rice's departure left a hole opposite Percy Harvin that Minnesota has yet to fill; Hunter is a similar type of player.

25. Denver Broncos - DE Dion Jordan, Oregon

Jordan must add bulk to his frame, but would eventually allow Derek Wolfe to slide inside to his natural spot at defensive tackle.

26. New England Patriots - FS T.J. McDonald, Southern California

Patrick Chung is set to become a free agent and has been unable to stay healthy; Tavon Wilson may be a better fit at strong safety.

27. New York Giants - LB C.J. Mosley, Alabama*

The Giants appear to be on the verge of a major defensive rebuild; they can start by adding a young, versatile linebacker.

28. Chicago Bears - TE Tyler Eifert, Notre Dame*

Starting tight end Kellen Davis has just 144 receiving yards through seven games; a dynamic receiver like Eifert would help.

29. Baltimore Ravens - DT John Jenkins, Georgia

The Terrence Cody/Ma'ake Kemoeatu nose tackle platoon has been one of Baltimore's primary weaknesses this season.

30. San Francisco 49ers - CB Xavier Rhodes, Florida St.*

Carlos Rogers' $5.5m base salary makes him a potential cap casualty this offseason; Rhodes is talented enough to compete right away.

31. Houston Texans - OT Jake Matthews, Texas A&M*

Previously considered the best unit in the league, Houston's line must compensate for the loss of right tackle Eric Winston.

32. Atlanta Falcons - DT Kawann Short, Purdue

Jonathan Babineaux has an excessive $4.7m cap figure in 2013; drafting a well-rounded defensive tackle like Short would be wise.

Also considered: Jonathan Cooper, Sharrif Floyd, Chase Thomas

I was very close to giving the Chiefs Barkley, but the hype is entirely behind Smith at this point. I think Pioli would lean towards Barkley, but who knows whether or not he will be making the decision in April.

I doubt he will be. I have Geno and Tyler Wilson as 1a and 1b and Matt Barkley at 2. I'd be happy with any of these guys but I'd prefer those first 2.

The problem with replacing Pioli is that Kansas City's organization has his fingerprints all over it. It would be difficult to fire him without completely revising everything about the Chiefs, which may set the team back even further than they already have been. The Hunt family may want to see what could happen with a top-flight quarterback before making that decision.

I completely disagree with you. Getting rid of his fingerprints is what they need. His drafts have been lackluster and I don't trust him to hire a new Head Coach. His first two hires have been awful and it's clear he can't put together a coaching staff that can get the most out of these players.

I really don't trust him hiring a staff that can get the most out of a top QB prospect either. When he considers Brady Quinn competition for Matt Cassel, there is a problem. He was fortunate enough to have Tom Brady, but "the Patriot Way" only works when Tom Brady is around. It's time for the Chiefs to move on from that philosophy and get a new mindset and it all starts at the top.

I agree with Pioli's major moves (Cassel, Haley, Crennel) being flops, but think that the Chiefs are closer to being respectable than most other people seem to. The rest of the roster is filled with young players and reasonable, non-guaranteed contracts. Obviously any team without long-term answers at either head coach or quarterback won't be very good, but things could turn around quickly with a promising young passer.

I would absolutely hate McDonald for us. Kawann Short would IMO be a much better pick for us. McDonald seems to me as an athlete playing football. I don't like his instincts or the angles he takes.

The Patriots may be more likely to target someone like Matt Elam, Robert Lester, or Kenny Vaccaro in the second round than McDonald in the first. I don't think any of those players projects as a true center-fielder though, which means that the free safety position would have to be manned by the Gregory/Tavon Wilson platoon again. I'd like to see Wilson get some more looks as a strong safety moving forwards.

I don't like Baltimore's pick. The primary reason the interior DL has looked bad this season is because Kemoeatu is so horrible. Getting rid of him would be a much better option than drafting a NT in the first round when there are much more pressing needs. It's really confusing as to why Kemoeatu beat Cody out to start in the first place, we've heard virtually nothing about the reasoning. Well besides the fact that Dean Pees has proven to be utterly incompetent (which isn't a surprise).

DE, OLB, and MLB would all be better bets if you're projecting the Ravens to take a defensive player.

I'm surprised that Pees ended up playing Kemoeatu more than Cody considering Pees' background in New England; Cody seems like the more natural fit. C.J. Mosley would be a fit in Pees' system, but he's not available there and no other inside linebacker options make sense from a value perspective. Someone like Chase Thomas could be worked into Baltimore's defense, but he is not the type of player that Pees would like: Pees wants someone that's big, bulky, and can take on blockers.

I wouldn't count on Pees being around after this season. Then again Harbaugh is the coach so who knows. Unlike when we Ravens fans were complaining about Mattison this time around the defense is performing terribly statistically and on the field. Hopefully that's enough to force a change.

Haha that might be a possibility. Usually they like to promote from within but is seems like there are only a couple of "real" candidates on the team right now in Monachino and Brooks. The latter has been passed over so many times I doubt he gets the job but I think Monachino has a decent shot at it. I wouldn't put it past Harbaugh to promote Martindale (former Broncos DC) though. That might actually be worse than Pees.

Happy with Keenan Allen to Seattle.

Gonna say you know it's a weak draft when Geno Smith goes number 1.

Palmer has played very well this season and drafting a QB to sit for a year won't do much to improve this football team. Adding defensive talent should be our main priority, especially in the pass rush and coverage. Okeofor or Reid would be better options.

Bjoern Werner is my #1 DE at this point, so I love the pick.

Oh, and Derrick Morgan > Kamerion Wimbley.
