I'll say it AGAIN.

Every team EXCEPT SEATTLE in the NFC Wild Card race has a brutal schedule. Every team. Including the Bucs. So when I said Seattle DESERVES the spot I meant Seattle DESERVES based on their play thus far + the schedule to be noticed as the favorite RIGHT NOW (not that that matters at all).

The Saints don't have to go 6-2. They can go 5-3 and make the playoffs at 8-8.

It is ABSOLUTELY possible that a team currently 3-5, including Dallas, NO, and Philly, leapfrogs the 5-4 Seahawks, 4-4 Lions, and 4-4 Bucs for the 6-seed. Detroits schedule is simply preposterous, the Bucs is difficult, and the Seahawks have obvious issues that could cause them to lose games they'd be favored in.

This includes St. Louis even, who like Seattle, has a workable rest of season and another matchup with Seattle.

The team that's going to make it is going to transcend schedule-predicting by simply playing well and finishing strong to go 8-8 or 9-7.

The Saints absolutely could be that team if the defense plays like it did last night going forward.

I wouldn't say every team except the Seahawks has a brutal schedule. The Cowboys currently have 1 winning team left on their schedule. It's pretty far from brutal and may be even easier than the Seahawks'.

It's not as brutal as the others but it's not easy either. The Cowboys need to PLAY WELL with that schedule and go 5-3 or 6-2 to have a chance.

That's my point. That the record right now doesn't matter as much as how they play going forward. The 3-5 teams included.

This is all contingent on the Seahawks scuffling a bit. If Seattle takes care of business and Wilson's midseason development is real, the race will be over sooner rather than later.

But I have a horrible inclination that Seattle's demise will start this week against a DESPERATE, embarrassed Jets team.

I disagree. Dallas has played all their tough games for the most part. Atlanta, Baltimore, both games vs the Giants. Sure no games are easy, but I'd hardly consider 2 games vs Philly, 2 vs Washington, Cincy and Cleveland a "brutal" stretch. If so, maybe we have a different definition of what you mean by brutal. Sure, they have the Steelers in there, and division games are always tough, but that's hardly anything close to what the Saints have.

The Saints defense played horrible last night. They had a 14 point swing due to Vick and his propensity to give the other team 6 points when they are in the red zone, and the overall lack of ability for them to do anything inside the 20 yard line. They got absolutely gashed on the ground(as usual) and gave up a ton of yards(as usual).

I didn't see a dominant defensive performance last night. Philly is just absolutely horrible inside the red zone and has been all year long. Sure, anything could happen, you won't get an argument from me there. The Vikings could finish out the season 8-0 too since we are throwing out hypotheticals, I just find it hard to believe the last playoff spot will have a team with 8 losses in it. I don't know if I see all those teams losing that many games to make that possible.

One team with a winning record, but several games on there that won't be easy. The Eagles are in the same life-and-death struggle as the Cowboys. Washington may be packing it in, but with Griffin, they're still a threat. Cincinnati could give the Cowboys trouble. New Orleans may be fighting Dallas for the final wildcard spot.

I could see them split with Philly, split with Washington, beat Cleveland, and lose the rest.

Well considering they all play each other and the Falcons and Bears, what does your math call for?

Tampa to go 5-3 down the stretch?
Dallas to go 6-2?
Seattle to go 5-3?
Detroit, with the worst of them all, to go 5-3?
St. Louis to go 6-2?

Those are your only options unless you believe in Minny or Arizona who are about as dead as dead can be.

Jerry Jones: There is no way I’ll give up being general manager

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...neral-manager/

Damn straight, Jerry. One NFL fanbase is incredibly lucky that I'm not a billionaire, because I would totally buy an NFL team and name myself GM. Otherwise, what the hell is the point of being unfathomably wealthy?

To buy your own island nation n give running a country a try? At least that's been my answer to what would you do with mindboggling wealth since I was a teen.

See, I wouldn't name myself the GM....but I'd have final say. I think all owners who give a damn have that. No GM is going to spend his teams first round pick or spend millions of dollars on a free agent without the owner's approval. If the owner gives a ****. Some owners just don't.

I'm a Romo hater, but they'll find a way to choke that schedule away and go 4-4 at best.

Eh, I think Foles will suck to, but Vick's pocket presence is terribad, so Foles can't be that much worse in that regard.

the eagles have the worst offensive line i've ever seen; it doesn't help that they have four starters out. if you saw the game last night there is no way you can blame vick when 2-3 guys are flying in untouched. any offensive line that is depending on demetress bell has no hope.

The Eagles OL is terrible, but that doesn't mean Vick's pocket presence isn't also terrible. As for Bell, Fitzmagic made it work with him, and Fitz isn't exactly a Manning or Brees in the pocket.

A little harsh calling Brees a douchebag. He's a good family man and teammate down there. My guess is if someone comes back into a football game it's with the consent of the coaching staff. I could be wrong.

Really? I thought that was commonly accepted going all of the way back to his Atlanta days. Dude can move, but he gets himself sacked more than even a normal speeded QB should.

Ah, yeah that I understand. Luckily my best friend knows her **** about basketball otherwise I would never talk sports with my friends. Just so often in RL I'll say something, then I'll hear something painfully stupid in response and all I can do is say "oh, you're one of those people", and change the subject.
