I really don't understand the firing of Mike Brown. Was he a great coach? Not really. But... who is out there that will make the Lakers play up to their (over-estimated) potential?
Seriously... who?

Outside of PJax, the first person that comes to mind is Jerry Sloan

Phil is worse than Brett Favre if he comes back.

Phil is a ring chaser. The best ring chaser of all time, but a ring chaser.
It makes sense though. If you have a championship ready made team, why WOULDN'T you want Phil Jackson to coach them?

I fear for the Magic tonight. They might get their brains blown out against the All-Powerful Nets.

Would be a tough call between him and Lebron.

I think you're just more frustrated at the Pistons sucking ass. It's okay, it'll get better soon.

Especially when Maxiell rips Thomas Robinson's arm out of its socket for Round 2. And no, I'm just tired of Phil being Phil.

D'Antoni has me excited thinking about the offensive side of the ball, where him and Nash were awesome together. Nash won 2 MVP's under him, but we do not have the shooters they had in PHX. We haven't been playing D under Mike Brown who is considered a defensive "Genius", so do we stay still or do we get worse when we bring in a guy like D'Antoni who has historically had some of the most comical defenses ever.
|
Mike D'Antoni's defenses never had Dwight playing in place of Stat. That's a huge difference, with Tyson and Mike the D was solid, he didn't have Melo busting his ass on D the way Mike Woodson does, but D'Antoni was stuck teaching him to run the team because we had no point guards. With Dwight and the rest of that team, the Lakers don't need a great defensive coach, especially come playoff time when even Kobe will be turning it up. But a guy that can get that offense firing would really push them over the top.
Phil's obviously the top choice, if you think Sloan will be able to handle the egos he's the obvious #2 but Mike D'Antoni would be a good fit as well, especially since his connection with Steve Nash and what that'd do to Dwight's performance I think he'd do a great job with the egos involved.

Kobe doesn't really turn it up in the playoffs anymore defensively, that's a myth.

If Phil comes back, he needs to bring Robert Horry with him. At least to the staff, so the guy can get another ring. LOL.

He most certainly does, he's not a great defender anymore, but he doesn't half ass it the way he does much of the regular season.

I could see Sloan blowing up in the Lakers faces with one party walking away in like a month.
