Just use the term "self-viewed superstar". You can use it for Deron Williams, Amare Stoudemire, and JR Smith.

The guys you mentioned were tired of being "overworked" and wanted Brown gone. The 1-4 record just gave ownership an excuse.

I'm going to laugh, so hard, when Mike D'Antoni gets a ring with the Lakers.

I'm gonna laugh so hard when that moron runs Nash's knees to the ground and plays Dwight too many minutes thus not allowing him to recover from his back injury.

Are you seriously trying to suggest that Mike Brown is even close to Mike D'Antoni as a coach? Mike D has his issues, but Mike Brown's awful and incompetent, D'Antoni on the other hand is a solid coach. He's no Phil, but there's lightyears between Mike Brown-bad and Phil Jackson-good.

Sloan has said he's done and has no interest in coaching when contacted by the press. He also said the Lakers never contacted him so who knows.

Mike Brown isn't worst than D'Antoni. They both suck equally but for completely different reasons. You don't lead a team to the Finals with one star and a bunch of role players and be "awful and incompetent". What has Pringles accomplished? Brown wasn't the right fit for this team. You dont micro-manage superstar players. Pringles is more of a player's coach but equally inept in the basketball department.

Mike Brown, for all his flaws, still made it to the Finals once.
How many Finals did that jerk D'Antoni go to? They're both incompetent. Just for different reasons.

How many Finals did Mike Woodson go to?
How many Finals did Tom Thibodeau go to?
How many Finals did Doug Collins go to ?
You can do that with just about any coach. Getting to the finals is not really a barometer of if someone is a good basketball coach or not.

Any coach could've not prevented LeBron from dragging the cavs through that Eastern conference. The east wasn't even a joke, it was so bad. Meanwhile D'Antoni was dealing with a small team in a stacked western conference and still made it deep into the playoffs, and would've even won a ring if not for silly suspensions against the Dynasty Spurs. D'Antoni's also a big part of the team US staff and did well in New York until Melo turned on him.

More to criticize the word usage and not you; I never understood the use of the term "barometer". A barometer would be a horrible way to test the competence of a basketball coach.

Did the Lakers CHOOSE Mike D over Phil? Or did Phil decline.

You called him incompetent and awful. I don't think he's either, though some of his rotations with us left me wondering if he wasn't suffering from concussion like symptoms. There are good coaching fits and bad coaching fits. Brownie just wasn't what the Lakers needed. It was a over-reaction hiring, much like this one is. Their both good coaches with major flaws. And the main reason Pringles is on the US staff is because of his history, playing internationally in Europe and coaching NBA players. It has less to do with him being this awesome, kick-ass coaching mind.

Just hear on SVP & Russilio that Phil was ready to accept today and they picked Mike D. Said Phil was "stunned".

Phil was asking for alot, D'Antoni was asking for very little. Plus Phil was only looking at sticking around for 2 years, which might not have been enough to sway Dwight into commiting long-term is what some are suggesting also.

In defense of Pringles in this claim, he did have to coach the Knicks for the past 4 years...

There has got to be more to this story. MUCH more. Nash + Howard must have begged for Mike D.
Wait, don't Kobe and Phil have bad blood now?

The only player this benefits is Nash really so I don't see the logic there. Kobe can thrive in any offense really, but Dwight and Gasol won't be utilized nearly enough under Pringles. Running up and down the court, catching lobs and weak-side rebounding hastily taken jumpers isnt utilizing Howard enough.
