Marisnick will end up being the best player going to the Marlins. Nicolino has a bright future too, just glad the Jays didn't include Sanchez or Syndergaard. Hech is a great defender who actually hit better than I thought he would but will always be a below average hitter. Escobar was going to be moved for sure and should be a good player. Alvarez looked very good two years ago but the fact that he can't strike anybody out is troubling, especially when he is off him game like all of last year so I am not sad to see him go though he could end up turning it around. Mathis had the occasionally clutch hit and is a good defensive catcher but is pure filler.
So the Jays gave up some stuff but holy **** that is a nice return. Marlins only chip in 4 mill in cash so a complete salary dump and a decent return of players. All that said, great trade for the Jays.

It was Gose or Marisnick but I think it is confirmed that it was Marisnick traded which I think it good for the Marlins. Love Gose but I think Marisnick will be a very ******* good player for years to come when he is ready.

The fact that Loria was ever able to get his hands on another team is a disgrace. He is a crook through and through.

Anthony DeSclafani is also going to the Marlins. Had a nice year last year but he is very much expendable as I am not sure he will ever be able to have an impact in the majors.

The state of FL should hang Loria.

I really wonder, if you dig long enough, if the city can file a lawsuit against the team. The stadium deal was approved on the idea that they would make every attempt possible to remain competitive. There has to be some fraudulent misrepresentation on behalf of Loria for him to turn around and do this just one year after getting that ridiculous amount of tax payer money.

I highly, highly doubt it. It would seem like "attempting to remain competitive" is an impossible standard to prove. All the Marlins would have to do is argue that they think the prospects they acquired give them a better chance at long term success. Also, I doubt there was any sort of clause like that in the contract.

If that were case the Bengals would no longer be in town.

Loria knows what he's doing and knows how to pocket that cash and scam people. Can't believe this ass hole actually got to own another team after the Expos crap

Like i said, it's a hailmary. I'd at least attempt to do something. This isn't even a slap in the face. This is the Todd Bertuzzi sucker punch plus getting pissed on, shat on and set on fire while Loria does the thriller dance in the background. It's a travesty.

Well the good news is that the Marlins don't have any serious fans to alienate anyway. The bad news is that the one good player left wants out too.

Also, while the move is totally slimy in the context of building a new stadium, as a baseball deal it's really not that bad. The Marlins won 69 games last year with that roster, so it's not like things can get that much worse. And, they basically signed a bunch of guys for a one year rental and then flipped them for prospects. Not the best haul in the world, and that takes out all of the other contextual stuff, but you could still do worse.

Yeah.... Marlins have history for that. They prefer poaching talented prospects from another teams to raising their own prospects. Me forget.

Good grief I hope Andrew Friedman got on the horn this afternoon to offer the Marlins the backup shortstop from the Montgomery Biscuits for Giancarlo.

Huge salary dump for the Marlins and they got prospects and a solid MLB player while only giving the Jays 4 mill. I think the Jays come out ahead by quite a bit but they are taking a big trade and at the very least I think at least one of Marisnick and Nicolino will turn out to be a damn good MLB player.
