A divorce is inevitable.

All I can pray is we get a difference maker at GM who can have some hell of a draft in 2013 where we can get some (decent/good) starters out of this. Sanchez is staying in 2013 due to contract, it may be his final go of things period as a Jet.
The only thing better than Sanchez remaining a Jet, would be if the Iggles made a move for him.

Well their O-Line may be worse than ours so I'd prefer him to not go there. Lol.

Must happen after every game, or maybe even after every practice. They know if a majority of the team backs Sanchez that the organization may be inclined to stick with what the team wants knowing that a backlash could and very well may happen.

Its more of the NY Media trying to badger this and get some headlines, which to their credit the Jets players are giving them. The NY Media are a bunch of snakes who always find a way to poison the well and create the mischief that they desire.

It's kinda hard to say everyone joined together to stand by one answer when you made a comment anonomously. All I'm saying is, let's not try and spin this to say "oh well they are just backing Sanchez", because that's not even close to what's being said. Or maybe you just skimmed over the comments.

And sure, let's call the media snakes for asking questions that NFL players get asked on a consistent basis. Let's not call out the players for being snakes by bashing a teammate and going unnamed.

Like the OL matters with Sanchez. He's got a mediocre arm, poor accuracy, poor pocket presence and does a bad job of running an offense. That's the beauty of the Iggles getting sanchez, they could fix the OL, get more weapons and he'll still suck.

Not to mention when youre a team that talks this much, its pretty obvious the media is going to do what it can to provoke it.

Hard to have pocket presence when you get 2 or so guys in your face in a matter of seconds. He doesn't run an offense, he's yet to get the luxury by Schotty/Sparano/Rex.....there is terrible miscommunication between them though.

The Seattle game was bad, our receivers were blanketed by Browner/Sherman/Thomas. Shonn Greene was our leading rusher with 58 yards.

They have the best secondary in the league and we have Jermey Kerley and Clyde Gates.

Are people really trying to argue that they were backing Sanchez more than bashing Tebow?

One of them flat out said "He's terrible." There's no way you can construe that into backing Sanchez instead of bashing Tebow.

There might be a couple of worse teams, but the Jets are far and away the laughingstock of the league.

Its set up for when Tebow gets in vs JAX, BUF, TEN that when Tebow has a decent day, everyone will be jumping up and down saying that he's saved the team!

I think everyone knew heading into the year that the Jets schedule leaned towards favoring a 2nd half Tebow start with how hard our schedule is to open the year then how winnable our games are to end the year.

I'm not sure why a bad defensive performance by the Jets would mean the defense is responsible for them getting a new quarterback...

No less one terrible drive coming off a short week in a draining place(Thick air) to play where the defense was out there for a lot of the game. Tebow had one strong drive that entire game.....he won the game but there were plays like the INT TD by Andre Goodman that were just as big, if not more important.

You know I'm going to bring up the Pats here, but how about following their lead and saying "just focusing on the game" or "just doing my job" instead of specifically naming guys. Nothing bad ever comes out of comments like that. It's the media's job to ask the questions that players will answer that can make headlines, don't blame them for doing a good job.

Ya know I don't even have a problem with guys saying stuff like "we're all just supporting Mark", or "Sanchez is our QB" etc but no matter what questions they are asked there is absolutely no excuse for throwing your teammate under the bus like this. And enough of this Slausen was only backing his guy. Don't get me wrong, at least he has the balls to stand by his comments, but that whole "...and an athlete" quote was as dicky as they come.

Without that win Tebow magic dies and never becomes big enough to give Woody an attention-boner.

After reading everything, laughing a bunch and agreeing that Tebow isn't the answer, I've come to realize that this is the nail in the coffin. It is unfortunately (or fortunately) time to gut the ship. My thoughts on the organization and the recent comments;

1. The comments were out of line. There is no need for everyone to jump on a player like this through the media. I'm not a Tebow fan, but as far as I can tell it isn't him that is driving the annoyance that he is, it is the media. The team gave in and tried to put everyone in its place, but it backfired. You simply cannot say those things about a teammate in the public and save face. It looks bad upon the organization, management, coach, the players, and Tebow. Great job.

2. I'm a Rex Ryan supporter. I believe that if a team doesn't come in planning to win the Superbowl then they are wasting their time or lying. With that said, giving a gaurantee is a little extreme, but i don't mind the passion. If you want to be the big shot go ahead, but you better back it up, and for reasons that i attribute more to player management, they haven't been able to do that. When things go poorly, the atmosphere Rex promotes is bound to blow up. Acceptable for a coordinator, but not for a head coach as has been evident with all the outspoken comments by players. The walls are caving and this is likely the end of the line. He will continue to be a good D coordinator elsewhere.

3. Tanny (GM) has got to go. This team lacks talent in so many areas it isn't even funny. The offense has no playmakers and its impossible to see what the strategy was. The OLB position has needed an upgrade for years. We want to be a pressure D, but we can't get to the QB. What type of offense are we? A few years ago we were ground and pound, and we made it work. Then last year we went passing game suddenly, with limited success. Now we are somewhere in the middle with an ineffective run game, non-existant pass game, and a wildcat that consists of running up the gut for 3 yards at a time to disrupt the flow. We no longer have an identity...at least one we can be proud of. Yes he hit on some big talent, but that was 5 years ago. We have no depth and have continued to bring in big name attention grabbing players year after year. Perhaps this is the directive, but you can combine veterans with young talent and make it work. This has been a slow death.

4. Woody Johnson clearly supports the attention grabbing acquisitions - Rex, Favre, Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, Hard Knocks, Tebow. Until Tebow i could argue that the decisions at least made sense and the team made it work to a degree. With Tebow you can tell he pushed the acquisition and the team wasn't on board. It takes a fool to not understand what would come with him. To do so and not have your staff backing it was trouble from the start. However, if the desire was to grab attention he has done that. It's run its course and its time to clean house. Hopefully he's realized the error of his ways and we can move on to better times, however i don't believe that's the case. Only time will tell.

5.I am the furthest thing from a Tebow fan. I don't believe he is a viable quarterback for any organization wishing to go the distance. The attention he got last year was way too much, and the Denver D had a right to be upset that they were overlooked. It is great that they made it as far as they did with Tebow at the helm, but just as people say the Jets did what they did in spite of Sanchez (two AFC Championship games), the Broncos did what they did in spite of Tebow. We cannot win with Tebow, but given the players on the offense and how things have gone to date, i'm not sure we can do worse. With that said, i don't want Tebow in there. The lighter side of the schedule is coming and we need to finish with Sanchez and see how it goes. Tebow is not a long-term solution. I'd rather lose and let the Sanchez ship sail than listen to how amazing Tebow is with a couple of lowly wins and be stuck with him for another year.

It will be interesting to see where things go from here, but I look forward to future days where the Jets fall back into the background and don't open themselves up for embarrassment. This isn't what an NFL franchise should be, and hopefully the turn around goes quickly.

I'm starting to doubt the whole "Tim Tebow: Leader of Men" thing...Skip Bayless fails me again.

Yup, this is the biggest thing that everybody misses when talking about why the Jets have gone downhill. Yes, Sanchez/Tebow suck and Rex's bravado is starting to bite him in the ass, but this is a horribly assembled roster right now. The Jets finally stumbled into a winning roster for the team, and suddenly they lost any sense of creativity in terms of how they managed their roster. They held on to everyone they could and paid top dollar for everyone. Santonio, D'Brick, and Harris just signed long term contracts, and none of them are worth remotely what they're being paid. They sniffed the Super Bowl and lost sight of how to build a long run successful model. They couldn't take 1 step back so they could take 2 steps forward in the future.

Tannebaum served his purpose. He's an accountant, and he pulled every trick he could think of to make the numbers work, but you can only rework so many contracts. Too much of their cap goes to a small number of increasingly unproductive players. They need a football guy to come in and blow the whole thing up. Their drafts have been horrible and they have no depth.

I would like for Rex Ryan to stay, but I want a new GM to come in and rebuild. They need to quit going after big name free agents and start drafting way better. Our recent drafts are embarrassing. I think Rex has shown he can be a good coach when he has a quality team to work with.

To be fair it's hard to lead from the sideline. In the Seattle game they put him in down near the goal line, Kellar got a motion call, then they took Tebow out before he could run a play.

I'm not the biggest fan of Tebow's (everyone seems to say that) but their present situation at QB is terrible. What's the worst that could happen if you play Tebow for a couple of games. You lose. Shocking.

I pretty much agree with everything those players say about Tebow. But to tell it to the media and then be anonymous on top of that is beyond classless. This team lacks character. Those veteran guys who hold the locker room together when times are tough. I would clean house on this roster.

That being said, Tebow must be really really bad in practice. As bad as Sanchez as been playing how do you not give him a start?

For one it's hard to say how many reps he's getting in practice that actually relate to non wildcat plays. Second, it seems to me that the last thing that NFL coaches want is a QB controversy. I think they'd rather lose than admit they need to shake things up at that position.
