I definitely think Ridley deserves a spot this year but there is a pretty big chance that other Pats offensive guys will take attention away from him. Brady, Gronk, Welker, Vollmer and possibly Solder will all get a look. If Ridley can have a big game against either Houston or SF then he will likely get in. At this point though I think Ray Rice will pip him

To piggy back off of this I'd take out Jerod Mayo, and if there isn't another worthy AFC candidate (I'm struggling to think of any) I'd put in Brandon Spikes. The guy has forced fumbles left and right, and brings so much attitude to the run game where he excels. He's easily been the Patriot's best LB this year. He doesn't have as many tackles as Mayo, but he's made far more of an impact in terms of causing turnovers and pressuring the QB. Both of them have sucked in coverage though.

Tynes should be going. He leads the NFL and is our current MVP since our red zone scoring stinks.

Derrick Johnson has been playing out of his mind. despite the Chiefs struggles, he definitely deserves a trip to Hawaii.
also on the KC Homer Front, i think you over value Eric Berry's contribution this season. i'm not a fan of sending players to a Pro Bowl based on potential. this spot should be earned. Eric has been playing better as of late, but is still having a hard time getting back to full strength following the knee injury

if solder goes, it's just further confirmation that the pro bowl is a complete farce.
wrt the first post, there has to be a better SS in the afc than berry.

Solder has actually been pretty outstanding so far this season surprisingly. He's let nothing by him in weeks, and has been far more of a road grader in the run game then I expected. He still is inconsistent with his technique and earlier in the season he'd have 1-2 horrible blocks a game, but he's really come a long way since his Colorado days. I still have Clady and Thomas over him, but he's actually a pretty good lineman.

Solder never gets any love and it never looks pretty but he's playing damn well this year. When Brady gets pressured it isn't from the edges it's up the middle. He's also been really good in the run game which is a shock

Solder has not played well enough to make the pro bowl this year. Is it better than what we saw in the preseason? Light years, but I wouldnt give him a vote to make the pro bowl.

I agree, I think he's getting better every week, but he was more inconsistent in the beginning of the season. Still a lot of the top left like D'Brick and Long have had sub-par seasons which makes it more of a discussion. Although fans just vote in whatever name they recognize which makes lineman who have made multiple pro bowls insulated from year to year recognition of the variability of their play.

He wouldn't make my ballot right now but as cmarq said he has been getting better each week. He gave up that big sack to Wimbley against Tenn and Von Miller beat him for a few plays, but Von Miller is going to do that to a lot of LTs in this league. The thing with the AFC though is the top guys have been Duane Brown, Ryan Clady and Brandon Albert. D'Brick, Long, Thomas etc haven't had stellar years and if Solder keeps getting better I don't see how he wouldn't at least be in the conversation and the thing with Albert is he plays on a sucky team. Fair or not that will likely go against him

I refuse to believe a team as ****** as the Chiefs should have 3 players going to the Pro Bowl.

I really just didn't know who to pick at SS for the AFC. Putting Berry down might've been the weakest-feeling pick on there.

I like the look of yours at least for offense. Havnt really thought about defense yet.
Only Steeler I really want people to remember is Heath Miller. He's having a great season.

Honestly, me too. Feel much better about my offensive picks than my defensive picks. I think there's a lot bigger discrepancies between how important a player is to their defense and their spot on statistical leaderboards on the defensive side.

They don't play defense at the Pro Bowl anyway.

The Chiefs have one of the best LB groups in the NFL. DJ and Tamba deserve to go, no question, in any given year. You could make a case for Justin Houston too, but I personally wouldn't put him in yet.
And yeah, the Chiefs are god awful, but the Pro Bowl is about individual achievements, so your argument is invalid.

My Pro Bowl ballot looks blank because it's lame to vote on the Pro Bowl with no many important games left to be played.

Reshad Jones is currently a better player than Eric Berry. So that problem is solved.
Lance Briggs not being a pro bowler would be a joke to end all jokes. Though maybe the pro bowl should use some common sense and realize that Briggs and DeMarcus Ware play two completely different positions.

Probably won't get many votes, if any, but Bruce Carter absolutely deserves to be a pro-bowler this year. He has been lights out and is a playmaker at ILB in every sense of the word. Can't wait to have Sean Lee back playing next to him.
No one on our offense deserves to go outside of MAYBE Jason Witten and Dez Bryant, but there's way too many other WRs playing well in the NFC. Our offense as a whole has been complete dog ****.

This is definitely a problem, and is part of the reason I find it a lot harder to pick defensive Pro Bowl players. I mean, Red Bryant is a defensive end. Chris Clemons is a defensive end. They are nothing alike. Their responsibilities are entirely different. Same with Lance Briggs and DeMarcus Ware. "Linebacker" is pretty much an arbitrary designation. At least with offensive players it's pretty clear what they're doing. Defenses are so much more variable it's hard to say who's the best at a position, because the nature of a given position depends so much on the rest of the defense a player is a part of.

I'd be super bummed if only two 49ers were voted in. But there's alot of deserving talent in the NFC.
