Welker wouldn't be putting up those stats in any other offense, and if you're comparing skillsets, Welker doesn't have much at all on Tavon Austin other than an idea of "veteran savvy" which seems to cover everything from route-running to hands by default.
Wes Welker runs the most mundane routes better than anyone else in the NFL. I wouldn't call him more explosive, but he certainly has under-rated athleticism.
