Braun would've been a perfectly fine choice but there's no way he would win it due to the PED thing that happened.

Dodgers supposedly the front runner to sign Greinke.

Which is ******* stupid. He was cleared of it, and then went on to put up a better season than last year while undoubtedly getting tested like crazy. What more do you want. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if there wasn't another great option like Posey.

Braun had more XBH, TB, and a higher OPS than Posey. Just sayin'
FWIW I would've probably voted Posey myself, but the Braun PED 'scandal' wouldn't have precluded him.

Even with Halladay? What, was one whole pitcher supposed to make up for a meh at best team otherwise?

I am actually okay with this hire. As long as Gibbons doesn't challenge anybody to a fight he is a smart manager and can work wonders with this team.

As they will be for pretty much anyone they put their mind to. The Dodgers are basically playing a different game right now because money isn't really any kind of an issue.

Good. Really wish the Halos just signed Anibal Sanchez and then somebody like Marcum, McCarthy, Dempster or somebody of that ilk instead of giving $20+ million do Greinke

Yeah the teams are kind of in different positions right now. The Angels are in a spot where they need to fill out their rotation with a couple solid bargain guys who can still win games, while the Dodgers are in the market for a big time number 2.

There's no such thing as overpaying for good pitching.
What you don't want to do is overpay for bad pitching which happens way too much in baseball.

It's just that they have to fill 2 spots. They have a good $30 million to spend this season(if they are to match last season's payroll). They need 2 SP + a bullpen arm or 2. Not sure if they'll have enough cash to get Greinke locked up and then find another SP and some relief pitching. They apparently have already offered Fujikawa a 4 year contract(money not disclosed) so we'll see how that turns out.

The Dodgers and Angels are definitely in different situations when it comes to Greinke, which probably makes the Dodgers the leader. Signing Greinke also gives the Dodgers the option to deal Capuano or Harang if they so choose. They are also reportedly interested in Fujikawa as well.

How long until Stanton gets traded? I cant imagine they would be stupid enough not to ship him out knowing he probably wont sign an extension.

He won't be a free agent until at least 2016. Once his salary raises to the point Marlins couldn't simply afford to pay, he will be traded. That means 2015 salary of his may start the concern for Marlins. Stanton is stuck with Marlins for now.

That's really too bad for him. He NEEDS to get out of there.
Profar for Stanton!

Rumors abound about Jhonny Peralta possibly heading to Arizona (to play 3B).
Any DBacks fans here? I speculate that the Tigers would receive a bullpen arm in return ... Thoughts?

I could see it, just traded Ryan Wheeler for a LOOGY and we are going after Kyuji Fujikawa as well. Maybe something like Putz or Ziegler?

Looks like the Yanks and Kuroda have agreed on a 1yr deal, so that's another SP off the market

I also heard Texas sending Mike Olt (3B) and Martin Perez to Arizona. Hmmm
