I still need to see the following: Wreck-It Ralph, Looper, The Master, Cloud Atlas, 7 Psychopaths, Skyfall, Lincoln. Ahhh!

Which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. People love to clown on Spielberg, but he's a good director overall.

Saw Twilight and Red Dawn tonight. I'd never seen any of the Twilight movies before, and now I know for sure that wasn't a mistake. Absolutely the worst movie I've seen in a long long time. I wanted to slit my wrists because of how slow it was, and then when it finally got a little interesting, they ruined it with an awful ending.
Red Dawn was good entertainment. Obviously not a masterpiece. Implausible story. But the acting was decent enough, and the action was good. We snuck into this one after Twilight, so it was definitely worth the free viewing.

He's the most cookie cutter director possible and if his name weren't spielberg his movies wouldn't get reviewed nearly as well. I mean even Munich got good reviews and that film was garbage.

I thought it was decent at best but wildly inaccurate in many ways.

That's it, definitely not because it's terribly disappointing to see someone with so much talent and money at his disposal crafting something so incredibly boring and bland out of a story which could've been really good.

At no point is Munich bland or boring. I think you walked into The Terminal during the time it was out.

I don't think so. He's had some movies that weren't that great like all directors and that people didn't necessarily praise just because he directed them. But films like Jaws, E.T., Saving Private Ryan, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park or Schindler List are all great films which I wouldn't necessarily classify as cookie cutter. Nor would I say those films are overrated and get undeserved praise because Spielberg directed them.

The most cookie cutter director = Brett Ratner.

That's a good example of someone I would give that crown to. At least the first Rush Hour was good.

Exactly. He's earned his due. And Munich was a great movie. Very well made.

Fox ruined X-men by hastily rushing it into production instead of waiting for Singer to finish wrapping up SR. Although that movie sucked and he probably should have just done X-men anyway but oh well.
