If true...than one of the biggest obstacles to making a QB switch (locker room support) is gone.
This concerns me greatly. We'll see what happens, but this is the same type of reaction the locker room had to Troy Smith. Remember how amped and emotional everyone was after the Rams game? Ideally, this needs to strictly be a coaching decision. I'm seriously hoping a bunch of hyped up WRs, LBs, and DBs didn't influence this decision....those guys aren't the smartest bunch.

I doubt he would make a switch based solely on the locker room, nor do i think he should. But you don't want to lose your locker room making a QB switch guys aren't behind. This is just 1 less obstacle IF he decides to make a permanent switch.
Kyle Williams is out for the rest of the year, torn ACL. Most ppl probably won't view him as a huge loss but K-10 was very underrated. Great blocker for his size, quick and elusive. Had some huge catches this year when the QBs looked his way. Hope he makes a speedy recovery and we see him in a Niner uni again.
Word around town is the Niners are set to sign former Eagles KR/PR Chad Hall. Looks like LMJ and Jenkins still won't be seeing the field anytime soon. Either that or Ginn's injured hand is more serious than was being reported.
Don't know if anybody else has seen this vid but I just stumbled upon it and thought it was very well done. And considering the circumstances, I thought most(well really abaddon, ha) would appreciate it.
The Terrell Owens special should be good. Can't wait to hear about how everything wasn't his fault.
Dont know if you're being sarcastic or not but T.O. special? Do you know when thats on?

With Kyle Williams gone for the year, I have the perfect team player to replace him....wait for it...

QB Josh Johnson :)
Hahaha. Thought I was going to say T.O.? Nope. Time is past.
Seriously though, I would re-sign Johnson for two years. Let him learn as much as possible and be groomed for the veteran backup role in 2013. This way, we can avoid paying Alex Smith $8.5m and use that money to extend Bowman, Whitner, etc.
Actually Dan, that's one of your better ideas ever in your post history that I can recall. It's funny because I went back and watched some pre-season games when Jimbaugh said CK would start against the Saints and in watching, I forgot just how much upside Johnson had. He has some of the best feet I've seen on a QB. Beautiful delivery, great arm. With him, like CK it was more about his accuracy. He missed some early dimes in preseason but started to look good in the last one. I really believe, like you, if Jimbaugh got ahold of him and was able to keep around for longer than a year, he would develop into one of the better back-ups in the league.
So yea, that same thought occurred to me....why not go nab JJ now that we have room? Well for one, if he's been sitting on his couch this long, chances are he'll be there when our season ends. There really is no rush. Second, it depends on the confidence they have at PR/KR after Ginn. Hunter was the next up on the depth chart as KR. But since he's hurt they'll look to have either Cox or James handle those duties. Do they really believe in those guys behind Ginn, in light to how our season ended last year? I would say no, seeing as how its been reported they're bringing in guys for a workout Tuesday and are already in talks with Chad Hall. So as much I would like to see JJ back in the fold, I don't see it as a possibility at the moment. Now if they don't sign anybody Wednesday, then they obviously didn't see much in the guys they worked out and they didn't see a upgrade to what they already have. Then maybe the door is open for them to go grab JJ.
Dang this QB change is killing me.Just tell us already.Start CK the rest of the season and be done with it.Alex is already mentally hurting by the benching of the saints game.

I wouldnt wait until the off-season to sign him. Better to sign him to a two year deal now so he'll already be prepared to be the backup in 2013.
As for kick/punt returners, we do have James and Cox. Of course, we still have Ginn. I just wish he would break a long return or get a TD. It's so aggravating watching him sometimes.
Stupid question - who in the blue hell is Chad Hall? And is he even worth signing? If he's only going to be signed to be on the bottom of the depth chart, I dont even see the point. Better off signing Johnson and using the open roster spot to prepare him for 2013.

Idk why I try to talk rationally to you but i'll do it anyway. Alex is one of the most mentally tough human beings I have ever seen. If he gets back into the game he will perform to the highest of his abilities. Something like this isn't even the worst thing that's happened to him.
