It amazes me that a guy who is throwing it at 70% this year and has a record of 20-6-1 over two years is getting demoted. I think the backdrop of it all is money and the future but i've never seen anything like this in the several decades i've been following NFL football.

For anyone who thinks Suh's punishment was fair, let me remind you, Jim Mora Jr. got fined 25k just for using a cell phone to ask what the playoff implications were if his team tied.

Soooooooo, Alex Smith sucks until he's replaced, and now it's "Pooooor Alex, he was playing so good"
Love the contrarian nature of this board.

49er fan overreaction thread. I for one never said any of these positive or negative things about Smith, and neither did 90% of the board.
We saw him for what he is, just slightly above the level of a true game manager. Kaepernick gives the 49ers a much, much higher ceiling to work with.
The next question becomes "who picks up Smith this offseason?"
If I recall, he's due a bonus on the 3rd day of the new league year, so teh 49ers basically have that long to make a decision.

This. No one ever said Smith was god awful and the worst QB in the league, we all just had a grand ole time ripping on people trying to compare him to Eli or any actual top 10 QB.
EDIT: lol ok no one besides metsox.

Oh come on. What would you guys have to talk about in these weekly threads if those 49er posters weren't around? It's all I've seen since I've ventured back over to these boards it seems.
I suppose there are a lot of "meh" games this week, right? Continue talking about the 49ers. I won't take the pleasure away from you all.

What the **** is wrong with Rolando McClain? Not only was he released, but Bill Romanowski just burned him on twitter.
I feel like, if there was ever a guy I was sure would succeed in the pros, it was him...
and he's a 23 year old street FA (waivers pending)

Was he doing that bad on the field? I know this was supposedly the result of some 'incident'.

Per Jimmy Graham. Stay classy ATL. Although its not like the falcons haven't laid enough eggs to coat a bus with.

Just to see a Vidae freakout, I'm hoping it's Kansas City.
In reality, I could see it being the Jets (if Ryan keeps his job), Arizona, or Buffalo. The darkhorse could be Cleveland, they need a young quarterback to groom behind Weeden.

The incident was to do with threatining one of his "friends" and firing a gun right beside his ear causing hearing loss. I don't think he got convicted of anything though.
As for his play I haven't seen enough Raiders games to make a true judgement, however I have seen him described as a poor man's Brandon Spikes. He is mediocre in the passing game and ok in the run game. Probably a guy who will get picked up and become a starter but not a top level starter, and certainly not someone who has shown he was deserving of such a high pick

So how many yards does Alfred Alonzo Jenkins get this weekend? 100? 150? 200? More? The pessimist in me says he will only get like 150 and a couple of touchdowns but the realist says over 200 and three or more touchdowns

This was from sport center this morning. The raiders picks since 2004 and the picks right after them. Imagine Rodgers with Megatron and Fitz as his wideouts...Sprinkle in a little Spiller with DMC...

it wouldn't have mattered who the raiders had picked over the last ten years. their coaching and other front office decision making have been horrific. no amount of talent could've saved that team.
