I mean ffs, the MAC has been putting QBs into the first round more than the B1G. Seriously, wtf is wrong with that picture?

There are four quarterbacks starting in the NFL from the Big Ten (Brady, Brees, Wilson, Henne-Kyle Orton moonlights from time to time). Certainly not great, but not as bad as it looks by talking about Kery Collins.
Also, Nebraska is going to blow this. Idiots.

Wilson sucked at NC State. No way in hell he goes before the 6th round if he comes out instead of transferring to Wisconsin.

So Brady, a 6th round pick who got his starting job by Bledsoe getting nearly killed. Brees, who busted in San Diego to the point where they drafted Rivers before he turned it around, an undersized 3rd round pick, and two guys who don't even start all the time.
Still no first round picks. And for Brady and Brees, you have to reach back over a decade ago to get to their college careers. The landscape has changed so much since then.
If I'm a big time QB, I'm just staying far, far away from that conference.

Umm what?
He was really good at N.C. State. Tom O'Brien can develop QBs.

Can you name the quarterbacks from Alabama who have done anything in the NFL in the last 20 years? Oh, there aren't any? Okay. If I'm an elite QB, I'm not going to Alabama to hand the ball off 40 times a game. I'm going to USC where I play with elite skill players, great QB development, and a bevy of cheerleaders wearing tight white sweaters I can bang.

From 10+ years ago. One is a 6th round pick who, while he absolutely made the best of his situation, could have been easily lost as a footnote in history if Drew Bledsoe doesn't nearly die. And Brees, like I said, was a bust in his first career stop to the point where they drafted his replacement high in the first round.

Lol I guess when you put it that way, and from a prospect standpoint I see where you are coming from.
But that same 6th round pick and San Diego bust... are also two of the top 5 QBs in the NFL right now...
For what its worth, I would definitely head to a Pac-12 school if I was a top QB recruit. USC, Stanford and even UCLA and Washington.

You must not like numbers very much.

He absolutely blew up at Wisconsin. But it must have been getting away from those infamous ACC defenses.

I don't deny this, but if I'm a 6'5 QB prospect with a cannon arm, I'm not looking to be a 2nd or 6th round pick. I want the payday that comes with being a high first rounder, and I want to go to a school who is more likely to get me there.
You have less control what happens to you once you get into the NFL. So I'm going to try and go to a college that will set up up well before I even get there.

Yes, I would too.
USC, Notre Dame, Stanford, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State (Mike Gundy being underrated here), Washington, Florida State, Texas A&M would all top the list. But beyond that? Urban Meyer has a pretty good record with quarterbacks, Dantonio and Ferentz have put quarterbacks in the league, and Bill O'Brien and Kevin Wilson are known as passing-oriented guys.

I'm shocked, absolutely shocked, that there wasn't a hold or block in the back on that Martinez run. God damn.
Wisconsin should feel embarrassed.

Yeah their gameplan looks good. Martinez looks really confused pre-snap, but no gameplan is worth a **** if you don't tackle the guy.

I kept rolling Penn State around in my mind because of him, even with the general B1G knocking. He's coached a Superbowl caliber offense and actually made Matt McGloin look decent this year.
But 3 more years of sanctions and the risk of him jumping to an NFL job at any point would have me too wary to ever actually commit as a blue chip QB prospect.

Once they reach the NFL, their draft position doesn't matter. Teams passed on Brees and Wilson because of their height, so it's not like it was the conference's fault.
And SD got a replacement for Brees because they didn't think he'd be the same after his injury. He wasn't a bust in SD.

And they also made/are making many millions of dollars less the top picks got in those drafts. Even with the rookie salary structure now, high first round picks make enough money to set them up for a quality life if they're smart on their rookie deal alone. A 2nd or 3rd round pick gets a nice pay day, but if they get Lattimore'd before they reach their 2nd contract, it could all be over.
That is also why I'd consider places like ND and Stanford high, because you'll come away with a degree that will be nice for a 2nd career.
