It is no mystery that the Rams will be looking to pound Steven Jackson and hit with D. Richardson on the edge for some big gains. We need to run to set up our passing game (such as it is...).
At any rate the Rams are in town this week and my wife is from Cheektowaga so we absolutely MUST win so I can lord it over her for awhile and show her what a good sport I truly am.

SJax needs 25 carries for the Rams to win. If this happens, I like their chances. If Amendola was playing, I would like them even more. Don't think he is though.

I'd expect both teams to be running it a lot, or at least trying to. That's what they're better at and it is not going to be ideal throwing conditions on Sunday.
As for the improvement, I think it probably just has to do with guys getting more comfortable. Mario has been pretty studly since cleaning his wrist and getting indirectly called out. Kyle Moore has been an improvement over the injured Kelsay/Anderson. Young guys like Gilmore, Dareus, Carrington, Searcy, and Bradham are getting better, all pretty much appropriate to their draft position. Barnett has been less horrible as of late, which is nice. I can't say if anything is being done different schematically as I am usually not at my most sensible at the games and not that smart to begin with, but it certainly looks like a more cohesive group in all aspects of defense. Even Shawne Merriman isn't terrible, and I wouldn't doubt that his leadership is also a big help.

Watching a Peyton Manning lead 10 point favorite play a team that just let Brandon Weeden put up 350+ yards is a decent game?

The Patriots certainly aren't lacking in the creativity department when it comes to preparations.
They showed the stat during Mike and Mike this morning that the Texans lead the league with 31 pass break ups. The 2nd place team has 18. Watt by himself has 15.
One thing that has always bothered me about swats though, is that wouldn't it make more sense to actually set the ball up in the air? The odds of one of your defenders coming down with it is way better than any offensive player since the defenders are all facing the LOS and the QB.

Is that only refering to passes broken up at the line of scrimmage? If it isn't then the stat is incredibly inaccurate.

Probably. I don't remember seeing them specify, but you're right that it should be higher if DBs were taken into account.

Defenders like Watt could probably have some success. Steelers best guy at swatting balls has been Keisel this year but he's usually just throwing up arms trying desperately to make any kind of contact. Doubt he's ever gonna be thinking about how to tip the ball, just do anything to get a hand on it.

I saw him at lollapalooza in 2011. Eminem was set to perform afterward on the same stage. By the time he was closing with **** you, he was getting boo'd hard and people were chanting "shady" in the middle of the song. Loved it.

This game is ugly. 25 plays vs 7 in favor of the Broncos.
