Saying it's not fair for Brand/Rose is the perfect example, and it goes back to the Kevin Love point. Kevin Love is good at shooting 3s, but they'd probably be better off with other guys taking those shots and making them at a lower rate, and then Love cleaning up with extra possessions and points by simply beaing near the basket. It doesn't make the shooter more efficient, but it's probably a more efficient basketball sequence. If Kobe misses a bad midrange shot with his bigs in good rebounding position, go ahead and mark it against his shooting %, but it's a shot you want him to take almost every time.
What this really means in the big picture is that having a stretch 4 is a really overrated concept, provided those extra possessions and points outweighs what you give up in transition defense (the flipside of this would be the Celtics with KG for example - he's bailing to the other side of the floor as soon as a shot goes up.)

I get what you're saying, but it's basically just saying that getting offensive rebounds are good for offensive production...which is pretty obvious. It's also difficult when you weigh it player by player because the rebounders on that players team obviously make a huge difference. There's also the schematic issue, which you mentioned with KG, where a team weighs offensive rebounds versus transition defense. I just thing there are a ton of variables that aren't really covered too well in the article.

And 4's playing outside seems to be working out well for teams as of late. Lebron played the 4 almost exclusively down the stretch and still did his share of outside shooting, Ibaka does the majority of his scoring from the mid range, Garnett during the Celtics peak, Lamar Odom was a great stretch 4 for the Lakers and helped them win 2 titles, Dirk is the definition of a jump shooting 4 and won the title two years ago, etc.

I think it also illustrates that the gunner ballhandlers aren't necessarily inefficient within the structure of an offense - going back to the article's point about how Melo's inside/close shots turn into extra possessions/points at a far, far higher rate than his midrange shots. There seems to be be some kind of symmetry even if we don't necessarily know how to quantify it yet.
FWIW, author also said that if he didn't decide to call it the Kobe Assist, he'd have chosen the Iverson assist. And say what you want about AI, but he did drag a terrible ass 6ers squad to the Finals with nothing but an old Mutombo. /shrug
Then again, that probably means that the AI/Melo Nugget teams should have been way better than they were.

#PistonsIn2017
As long as Drummond is starting by then. And as long as we have Shabazz (which we will). And as long as we improve at PG.

The Lakers have serious, serious problems totally unrelated to Steve Nash. He's not going to help defend Russell Westbrook.

There are only a handful of PGs who can actually guard Westbrook. Having a PG that can guard the perimeter is a luxury.

There are some that can at the very least slow him down or frustrate him, and the Lakers PGs are generally just a disaster at that.

Chris Duhon had a defensive reputation? I always thought he was just a low-key caretaker for the 2nd Unit.

That was what he lived off of for his entire career, basically. But he's really not that bad overall, just felt like messing with the Lakers.

It bothers me when teams play music during play. The organ and drum sounds to get people to chant are fine, but actual songs just feel wrong to me.

Hey guys, Ty Lawson is just as good as Russell Westbrook.
Also, Magic beat the Lakers. Kings beat the Magic. The Kings are better than the Lakers.

So the Bulls have beat the Pistons 16 straight games.
Noah is the 4th player in 25 years with 30 points, 20 boards, and 6 assists.

None that I know of. I'd actually be interested to see how we do without him. We need to find that 2nd scorer, so having 2 games without Melo in the lineup could help identify that 2nd go to guy that we need to make a championship run.
