I don't know if the Celtics really chose not to sign Mayo...more that he chose Dallas. Ainge has gone after Mayo in the past, so I'm sure he tried to make a run at him this offseason, but was unsuccessful.

Of course he will. Gordon Heyward beat him backdoor three times in the span of just a few minutes, it's pretty bad.

Orlando wins and the Lakers lose... if only the Knicks had lost it would have been the perfect night ;)
It's fun to be a Laker hater right now for basically the first time in my life.
I'm just hoping for the epic implosion where Kobe makes Dwight cry by telling him the truth about being a big lazy sook who should be so much better! It's all I want for Christmas :)

So, how about that NBA-best defense being played in MSG I keep hearing so much about?

You guys are actually not as hatable as I thought you would be, but I guess there's still plenty of the season and playoffs (hopefully for the Bulls) left to change that.
I'm just glad that Melo didn't get to play vs. us because he would have magically hit a turnaround jumper from like 5 feet beyond the 3 pt line, while on the 15 point hot spot. Never fails when he plays the Bulls.

Kyrie returns tomorrow. Which means the Cavs are somewhat watchable again.

His on-ball D has continued to erode as expected, but his help defense is just downright horrifying this year.

You can't expect a player to improve efficiency on one end without losing on the other. People need to understand this.

Why not? He's barely even trying defensively this year. Trying to play that rover role and get in passing lanes like he's done for a while but he's just not good at it anymore.

Because he's in his 17th year in the league? He's performing offensively at one of the best rates of his career, who gives a **** about his defense? His value at this point is strictly as an offensive player, whatever you get on defense at this point are the sprinkles on top. Besides, in the playoffs in crunch time, he'll drink a red bull and find the energy to play tough defense on whoever is in front of him. I'm not gonna be mad about him coasting through a meaningless regular season.

Who gives a **** about his defense? Well, he should, because it's a big part of why they're 9-12 right now. It's not all effort related, he hasn't been good defensively in the playoffs for a few years either. I clearly remember Trevor Ariza eating him alive for stretches a few years ago, and obviously the Mavs and Thunder series were never even close, because of perimeter defense/defending the three.

A guy got 30+ million for them strictly for defensive purposes and they have the alleged best center in the NBA playing for them, how are they not taking more heat for the defensive failures of the team? Kobe's defense isn't the reason they're 9-12, and i seriously doubt their record would be much different if he was in his prime defensive form. Team defense has a whole lot more to do with communication and knowledge of assignments than it does with any one individual guy. They look lost out there not knowing when to hedge, when to switch, to go over or under the PnR, how to help in the paint, when to let cutters loose. They just don't know wtf to do.

Chicago plays such great defense. I really was impressed with how well they D up.
Having that said, you guys play with a playoff intensity in the regular season. That's why I've always called the Bulls overachievers.

you're aware that our trade with LA occurred first and we get the right to swap Miami's first with LA's if it's more favorable right?

You also said the Knicks have the best defense in the league on multiple occassions so...
But really I don't care much about this season since we really have no business competing with top teams. I just like giving you a hard time bbd, especially when we end up going further than you in the playoffs...
