The front 7 is talented. And it seems like the secondary is starting to put it together.

Bellichick needs to tone it down with the complex zone coverages and just let them play. I think a lot of the mediocrity we've seen in the secondary over the past 4 years is bc of how complicated your zone defense is.

The secondary seems to be gelling a bit with McCourty on the back end. They still have huge structural problems with their LB's being awful in coverage, and despite tonight their interior pass rush is not good. Still with them getting much better contributions from Ninkovich and McCourty in the 2nd half they're becoming an average defense.

Wade Phillips made some horrible defensive adjustments all game. LBers covering Hernandez and Woodhead in space the whole game was baffling. How much easier does it need to get. McDaniels had guys lining up all over the place and Houston wasn't even close to having an answer.


Maybe Cushings was really that important, but this defense looks God awful way too much now.
