1. With the new contract, can't imagine they could trade him without massive cap penalties.

2. New England would be pretty perfect. could give Ryan Mallett, an O-lineman, and a pick or two perhaps. Heck, maybe Washington can do a deal, put Kirk Cousins in there

no way they should take anything less than a first for him, and theres probably a dozen teams that would give that up in a heartbeat.

Id say a first and a second

i also think they need to just get him a QB this year and watch him blast back into relevance

the sad thing is that signing Vince Young off the street might really make them more competitive.

I just love the "tell coach" part. It reads like something a kid would say. It's so simplistic a notion to suggest Larry Fitz should "tell coach" about him, like that is how the NFL works, it just doesn't seem conceivable an adult would think like that.

It seems like everything the guy says somehow seems to perfectly summarize why he isn't in the league right now.

Prob a good thing you aren't then. I would be willing to bet that Belichick wouldn't give up more than a 2nd for him.

Older guy, good young core already in place, not many draft picks and a mega contract just don't scream to me that Belichick will give up a lot

The Colts still need to upgrade their talent through the draft. As good as Fitzgerald is, the Colts could survive without him.

BB's draft history with WR's is terrible.

Chad Jackson
Taylor Price
Brandon Tate
Bethel Johnson

They've been looking for a good WR for years now. They lucked out with Moss for a couple years. Failed with Ocho Cinco, Torry Holt, Joey Galloway, and everyone they've drafted.

Fitzgerald will be 30 next year. No significant injuries and seems to be in good shape. Could provide a good 3-4 years.

I think the age thing is overblown. Fitzgerald is well known for keeping himself in fantastic shape, he's a savage competitor and I can easily see him playing at a very high level for a contender for at least 5 years. Plus, the way he plays the position, his game won't suffer all that much if he loses a little speed...he's never been overly fast anyways.

If he is available for a first round pick, I'm putting the Cards on speed dial. If Deion Branch can snag a first rounder in return, there is no damn reason Larry Fitz can't get that.

Here are his base salaries for the next 6 years:

2013: $5M
2014: $12.75M
2015: $8M
2016: $15M
2017: $14.75M
2018: $14.75M

There is no way the Pats could take on that contract under any circumstance. Also, Fitzgerald is absolute overkill for a team that scores 36 points a game already. Realistically the Patriots need a 40 catch deep threat type who can run a few vertical patterns. Fitzgerald can do that, but why add an all-pro caliber talent and contract when you just need someone to play a limited role.

Yeah but all 4 of those veteran guys they got combined cost the Pats somewhere in the region of a pack of smokes and a DVD of The Magnificent Seven. Belichick takes low risk/high reward guys. Giving multiple high draft choices and a boatload of cash isn't low risk

Lions, Bengals, or Bears just to see the migraine of defensive coordinators. I could see Baltimore though whether or not they keep Boldin or honestly like I think they should do move Boldin to a hybrid TE role.

Barring injury, Fitzgerald will be playing into his late 30's.

I would be willing to trade one of the Rams' two first rounders for Fitz. Heck, we haven't been able to cover him anyway so this would work for us on multiple levels.

If the Cards are willing to overlook the fact that we are in the same division I say let's do it!

I know they have a ton of needs and are technically still rebuilding, but I love the thought of Fitzgerald with Luck in Indy.

No way he stays in the division. They could offer two first rounders. The Cards don't want to play Fitz twice a year.

If they had a second round pick next year, it'd make a ton of sense. I'm pretty sure they traded it for Vontae Davis though, and I doubt they want to go the first two rounds without a pick.

The Cards have a great defense. If the QB that they draft works out they'll be contending for the playoffs in 1-2 years. If the QB is a bust the GM will likely to gone.

Yes, I'd have to imagine some teams will inquire about Cousins this offseason.

There is no way the Skins trade Cousins for Fitz. The Cards would have to add a lot more.

Perhaps. But in an exchange for Fitzgerald(I'm aware he wouldn't be the total package)? Cousins has a grand total of two partial games of decent NFL football on his resume. Basically, only somewhat better than nothing. Arizona already knows that success in a limited setting is no way telling of franchise potential. Considering they'll almost certainly have a top pick, for them to consider Cousins as a viable franchise option while shipping off Fitzgerald makes no sense at all for me.

I would like to think they wouldn't be dumb enough to trade him to NE either but sometimes you never know. I know picks are picks, but they would be changing the landscape of the AFC if you give Tom Brady Fitzgerald, Gronk, and Aaron Hernandez for his final years. That's insane.

I also think Fitz is the type of WR who will be playing very good into his late 30's, and I think a bunch of other teams realize that too. He's also durable to boot, so if you found a team with the cap space I think they'd easily give up picks to make it happen. I doubt he gets traded though, just no reason for them to, and while I sometimes want to feel bad for Larry he was a big Kolb advocate and he re-signed for AZ fully knowing the QB situation.

It's not like something drastic happened, the QB situation still sucked when he re-signed, and he would have had his own shot to pick his QB or new city. So you wanted to say in AZ for better or for worse, now here you are.
