35-Man All-Pro Team

Offense

QB - Aaron Rodgers, Packers - Apologies to Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Matt Ryan, but Rodgers continues to set the bar for QB play. There has never been a QB with as much physical talent as Rodgers who could execute with such consistent perfection. He deserves the MVP for the way he led the Packers to the NFC North title in a season full of adversity.

HB - Adrian Peterson, Vikings - Peterson is one of the best pure runners of all time, and certainly the best of his era. His return from a complete ACL and MCL tear late last season is one of the most impressive comebacks in the history of professional sports.

HB - Marshawn Lynch, Seahawks - No one runs harder than Marshawn Lynch, who has been the engine driving Seattle’s much-improved offense.

3rd down back - Ray Rice, Ravens - Rice is a great runner, but what sets him apart from a lot of other backs is his general feel for the game and ability to make plays in space.

FB - Vonta Leach, Ravens - There isn’t a back in the league that wouldn’t love to have Vonta Leach clearing the way for them.

WR - Calvin Johnson, Lions - Johnson dealt with a series of nagging injuries early in the year but never missed time and finished the league on a historic tear as he obliterated what was thought to be one of the league’s most untouchable records.

WR - Brandon Marshall, Bears - What would the Bears offense have looked like without Brandon Marshall? Bears fans shudder just thinking about it.

WR - AJ Green, Bengals - It’s very rare to see a receiver display this kind of skill in his second year. Green has all the physical talent in the world, but it’s his mental development that is unprecedented.

TE - Rob Gronkowski, Patriots - Gronk dealt with some injuries this year and saw a dip in his productivity, but he’s still one of the biggest matchup nightmares in the league.

TE - Tony Gonzalez, Falcons - Gonzalez is an ageless wonder. He catches almost everything thrown his way (88 receptions on 115 targets) and there really isn’t anyone you’d rather be throwing to on third down or in the redzone.

LT - Ryan Clady, Broncos - The Broncos’ offense has been a machine this year, and Clady’s dominating play on the left side made that possible.

LG - Mike Iupati, 49ers - Iupati is a rugged run-blocker, and has shown nice improvement in pass-protection.

OC - Chris Myers, Texans - The Texans let go of their LG and LT but resigned free-agent Myers. Good move. They have moved on seamlessly.

RG - Marshall Yanda, Ravens - The Ravens’ offense has taken a step forward and everyone is talking about the progression of Joe Flacco and Torrey Smith, but it’s not possible without guys like Yanda and Oher doing work in the trenches.

RT - Anthony Davis, 49ers - He’s cut down on his mental mistakes and is a dominant force in the run game.

OL - Duane Brown, Texans - He’s played too well to be left off the team and there are always injuries and a power formation with Brown as the extra lineman would be scary.


DEFENSE




DE - JJ Watt, Texans - Watt has been downright dominating. His numbers from the 3-4 DE position are simply unprecedented. He has recorded 20 sacks, and is also among the league leaders in passes defended.

Rush End - Cameron Wake, Dolphins - Wake has been a terror rushing the passer, and also played a key role in a defense that shut down opposing run games.

Flex DL - Haloti Ngata, Ravens - Ngata didn’t have his best year, but there still aren’t many guys who can dominate in the trenches and make plays in space like him.

DT - Geno Atkins, Bengals - Atkins is the league’s best interior pass-rusher and he played a big role in leading the Bengals to the playoffs.

NT - Vince Wilfork, Patriots - Wilfork put together one of his finest seasons and may be the best nose tackle in the game today.

SLB - Von Miller, Broncos - Miller continues to be a terror as a pass-rusher and has shown improvement in all facets of his game.

Rush LB - Aldon Smith, 49ers - Smith is the most dominant pure pass-rusher in the game. He is incredibly athletic, deceptively strong and knows how to use his length to his advantage.

ILB - Patrick Willis, 49ers - Willis has been setting the bar for linebacker play since his first year in the league. He almost never makes a mistake and comes up with plenty of big plays for the 49ers, who have built an elite defense around him.

ILB - Navorro Bowman, 49ers - Learning from Willis has certainly done a lot for Bowman’s game, and some are even saying it’s a case where the student has
become the master.

WLB - Lance Briggs, Bears - Briggs refuses to lose a step and had a special year for the Bears.

CB - Richard Sherman, Seahawks - Sherman was overlooked in the 2011 draft, but has quickly risen to an elite level at the cornerback position. He is one of the league’s biggest corners and does a great job in press coverage, but has also shown great football IQ and ball skills.

CB - Charles Tillman, Bears - Nobody in the game is better at ripping the ball loose than Tillman, who leads the league in FF by a wide margin.

Nickel Back - Patrick Peterson, Cardinals - Peterson is absolutely living up to his billing and is already one of the best corners in the league.

FS - Dashon Goldson, 49ers - Nobody in the league does a better job at laying ferocious hits without breaking any of the league’s rules on how you are allowed to hit a guy. He has drawn a few flags, but replays have generally shown his hits were clean and the officials were just reacting to how hard Goldson hits.

SS - William Moore, Falcons - Moore was a breakout star this year. He’s a big hitter with great range and has shown great improvement in his coverage this year.

Flex Safety - Jairus Byrd, Bills - The Bills’ defense is not playing well as a unit, but Byrd has one of the best noses for the ball in the league.


SPECIAL TEAMS


K - Blair Walsh, Vikings - What an incredible season for this rookie who went 9 of 9 from 50+ and only missed 3 kicks all year.

P - Andy Lee, 49ers - Lee had another great year and continues to be an important weapon for the 49ers, who dominate teams in the field position battle and often win games because of it.

RS - Jacoby Jones, Ravens - Jones gave the Ravens a real spark on special teams this year with his 3 return touchdowns and 32-yard average on kickoff returns.

I like it a lot for the most part, the only objection that I have is linebacker. I believe the OP just took the easy picks (pun intended).

There are guys out there playing at an incredible level at the inside and weakside linebacker position like: Wesley Woodyard, Chad Greenway, Jerod Mayo, Lavonte David, London Fletcher, Daryl Washington, Lawrence Timmons.

Picking the 49ers linebackers and Lance Briggs by default is getting old.

Trent Williams and Russell Okung have been outstanding...Definitely worthy of mention and would probably be second-team all-pros.

I actually spent a while thinking about that last LB spot. Von Miller and Aldon Smith were obvious choices. Von Miller is a traditional 4-3 SLB while Aldon Smith is a prototypical 3-4 rush LB, which gives good versatility. Willis and Bowman, they dont have the BEST numbers, but thats because they share their stats with all the other great players on the defense. No question in my mind those are the two best ILBs in the league and they can both play in any scheme and could probably play any LB position. No disrespect to Washington and Timmons, theyd be my second team, but theyre not on level with PWillie and Bowman...Briggs I really didnt want to put on, but with all his TDs, it was hard to leave him off. I was very close to giving the nod to Mayo.

I promise that he wasn't trying to be a homer. He just has an "interesting" viewpoint in regards to the players he likes.

Tim Tebow was his All-Pro QB. That is something besides homerism.
