Three people I work with did. Don't know if they drank it yet.

Try something standard, like a pale ale, and without too many wild additions (eg, lemon). Be sure to understand the process and how to do it properly before going nuts. This is not what my friends and I did and our second beer was nearly undrinkable.
Have fun with it!

Also, my brother just told me he bought two six packs. He knows more about beer than anyone I know, he's had a few other types of Trappist beers and he said the Westvleteren is absolutely amazing.

Is it a standard kit? Either way I'd start with a Malt extract. It allows for some customization (eg what types of hops you like) without the complex nature of creating a grain bill. But if you already have ingredients then tips.
1. Sanitize EVERYTHING that will touch your beer. spoons containers etc. Unclean utensils could ruin your first batch.
2. make sure to keep temperature. So make sure your wort is chilled before you introduce it to the fermenter or else you will melt it.
3. After you are done with the boil and set it to ferment forget about it for two weeks. Constant checking will make you freak out and potentially ruin your beer.
any other questions you got just let me know.

Thank god, was about to pull out the internet slap.
But enjoyed a six-pack of Maximus today. One of the better sixers you can get in my area.

This was ******* phenomenal. Truly one of the best I've had all year
Tasty, but not even close to the St. Bernadus. It was light but you were left wanting more when following it up with above beer no matter how cleansed your palate may have been.
Perfection in a bottle. Initial nuttiness that lingers subtlety on the palate. Refined yet unpretentious about what it is and that is a truly remarkable beer.
