We have to remember that the Chiefs are in rebuilding mode...they will get the QB this year, either Wilson or Smith, but could still very well be in the running for #1 in 2014...grabbing Clowney #1.

Getting that QB now, then Clowney in 2014 would have to make every Chiefs fan happy.

Correct. There's plenty of talent on their roster and with a halfway decent quarterback they're at least a 7 or 8 win team.

How much does Clowney weigh??

True. Besides teams don't think in terms of 'we're so inept we'll be back here next year', not reassuring to management.

I think saying a two year college player is more talented than established NFL players is going just a bit far. Maybe he will be in time (I think the kid has a heck of a future) but right now if you line that tackle up against any of the NFL players I mentioned, he will more than likely struggle more than he did today against Clowney.

Mario Williams isn't one of the more talented DEs in the NFL anymore.
At the same point in their college careers, I'd say Clowney is as talented if not more so than any NFL DE listed.

Yep, a new HC will turn over their roster, especially if they get rid of Pioli.

That would be a mistake, but he can do whatever he wants I guess.

I guess it depends on how you're defining "talent". I'm using it simply to describe natural ability, which I'd definitely put Clowney on equal footing at least with any guy you mentioned. Obviously he's not as developed as they are which is why they'd have the advantage, but I definitely think he's just as talented as they are.

As others have said, they aren't in rebuilding mode just because they need a QB and a HC.

A new HC and GM would be crazy to flip that roster.
THe Chiefs need better coaching, not a talent overhaul.

On paper the Chiefs have one of the most talented teams in the league. Imagine if they had Jim Harbaugh as HC!

That's a great comparison for the Chiefs. They're in a similar situation to the 49ers before they hired Harbaugh.

I made this same comparison six months ago and was told in no uncertain terms that the Chiefs aren't half as talented as those 49er teams were.

I obviously disagree with that assessment. The Chiefs have so much talent, but no QB to lead the offense and we had no coaching staff to coach these guys up. At least when the Chiefs went 2-14 in 2009 they played hard. There was nothing close to that this year.

I would only be happy if I were a Chiefs fan getting the QB in the respect that all the QBs in this class are mediocre and would thus enure getting the #1 pick in 2014.

Someone will separate themselves and be worth the first overall pick. It happens all the time.
