Really bland, and even the great acting is limited to just a few of the showy speeches. It's not like I'm constantly marveling at it.
And among films that are based on true events and we basically know how the stories go, Argo and ZDT are both so much better.

Finished "Lincoln."
The final 75 minutes or so are pretty great, but everything the 75 minutes before that are a drag. I rank it 5th behind SLP, Argo, ZDT and Django.
Daniel Day-Lewis deserves all the recognition at the very least.

The Evil Dead first cut earns an NC-17 rating.
Quote:
|
Though Alvarez has returned to the editing room to mold the film into a hard R, he expressed great pride of the initial rating via his Twitter page. “Was proud of scoring a NC-17 when submitted!” he said. “But we had to cut stuff out to get an R and get the film into theaters.” The Uruguayan director further confirmed that, despite the cuts, the R-version will still be an intense ride. “The R rated will have ALL the stuff you are seeing in the trailers,” he tweeted. “Trust me, You haven’t seen a harder R rated film than ours..”

I actually thought Kilmer made a good Bruce Wayne and looked good in the suit.

I take it you didn't see the first film? That's still one of the best Superhero movies ever made and set the stage for everything that came after it within the genre. The ending almost screws the movie over (well I can understand for some if it does), but as far as how Superman is characterized, it's very well done. The effects at the time are great too. One of Richard Donner's best films.

I don't agree with you often, but pretty much spot on. Superman is seriously such a boring character.

Superman is not good. It is not interesting and I have never liked it. I thought, maybe if I watch the Donner cut it would be better. Nope, just longer and more arduous.
I actually can enjoy Superman II though. That said Superman is a boring character. If you have no flaws, you are not interesting.

The Donner Cut? What do you mean? The first Superman movie IS the Donner Cut. Superman II has two very different cuts by two different directors. There is an extended edition of the original Superman that has been released, but just barely. And Superman does have flaws as a character even with all of his powers. The first Superman film explores this aspect extremely well.

You know I watched Dark City last night and I question life a lot more than I used to.
But seriously, sometimes the truth in a matter can see like a facade, but in reality it's quite legitimate. Richard Donner's Superman falls into this category. Pretty much everything works in that film in what it sets out to do except the ending.
