This is quite the messy situation. If his dad really did spend all night on the phone with AG and Shalala among other people, I highly doubt he ends up anywhere else, assuming there is still a schollie left for him again. What a weird recruiting season.

Is there a 2014 recruitment thread? The Gophers got an early commit today from 4* runningback Jeff Jones from Minneapolis. He already had offers from about half the Big Ten, including Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Iowa, and offers from helmet schools were likely on the way.

It's super early, but if he sticks he'll easily be our best runningback prospect since Marion Barber and Laurence Maroney.

If he comes back then, once again, Al Golden has played this masterfully.

I've been following this on a Canes MB. The most popular story is:

Kirkland set himself a Feb 1st deadline. We asked him for his decision on that day (a silent commit - he could still announce publicly on Weds). Ice Harris gave the U coaching staff an affirmative, Kirkland told Barrow "You're still in my top 3".

As a result the staff said "Thanks kid, but we have other recruits ready to commit. We're going to pull the offer" 'cos the last thing this programme needs right now is some 305 kid pulling the hat trick on the U on ESPN.

Now it seems his step-father rang Golden and co and asked for a sit down meeting. I guess Kirkland didn't know what he had until it was gone?

Wouldn't be a horrible move, but he is a much MUCH better DL then he is an OL so I'm not sure about the decision if that is the case.
