Flacco completely deserved to win the game. Jones played well, but Flacco played exceptionally well.

Yeah he made a nice move to get to the endzone, but do people really believe Jacoby Jones had more impact on the Ravens winning that game than Flacco??

Joe Flacco was the best player on the field tonight.

MVP.
Flacco got bailed out several times by his wide outs and a few times having the WR prevent an INT but he's the QBZZZ and since there was no QBZZZ MVP there must be QBzzz supar bowl winnarzzz.

Was it underthrown, or could Flacco have done it or purpose? The same thing happened in the Broncos game. You'll never see him underthrowing Torrey Smith, but it's happened twice to Jacoby in 2 playoff games.

Who the **** cares if he underthrew Jones? When you have a receiver that wide open it's better to underthrow it than overthrow it, he was probably just making sure he completed it.

Flacco made MVP plays twice on what should have been the game-clinching drive.

The Boldin play on 3rd and inches AND the throw to Pitta on that same drive that Pitta dropped...

I hope it was underthrown. If he did it on purpose he's kind of an idiot.

Underthrowing it didn't make sure he completed it. Underthrowing it caused Jones to have to make a great play on the ball to complete it. A good throw and he's hit in stride for an easy TD. Even a slight overthrow would have been a much easier TD.

The impressive part of the play by Jones was the run after the catch, not the catch itself. The catch itself wasn't anything special.

He was wide open, and Jones is more of a returner than a receiver. A lofter is easier to catch than a bullet.

Do you know how ******* difficult it is to throw that ball accurately in that situation? lol.

He obviously underthrew it. But that underthrow resulted in a TD because it was accurate enough. That's a damn hard throw moving in the pocket with bodies all around him, keeping his eyes down field and throwing a bomb 50+ yards in the air to hit his target. Yes it's a good play by Jones (and the effort after the catch was awesome) but slandering that throw is unfair and disrespectful to the athletic ability of what these guys actually do. It's not a video game.

Flacco threw the same kind of throw to Torrey Smith and it was almost intercepted by Culliver (should have been offensive pass interference). Still think Flacco deserved the MVP. Maybe if Jacoby made one more big play and Flacco was a little worse.

The title of this threat should be, "Why couldn't Jacoby Jones play like this while he was on the Texans?"

You should take a look at the thread on Joe Flacco's upcoming contract negotiations. Most people knock him for his inconsistency and suggest that he is not deserving of a big payday.

I have seen a transformation in him these last few weeks that I think will continue. He has command of his offense and is throwing with a consistency that was not there in the past. I think he will get a huge payday and I think he deserves every payday.

That was the most impressive part of the play. But the actual catch was still more of a result of a good play by Jones than a good throw by Flacco.

I'm not saying that Joe Flacco played a game that was undeserving of Super Bowl MVP. It's just that Jacoby Jones was more deserving of Super Bowl MVP. And yeah, as a result of that second part, in this particular Super Bowl, I guess that makes Flacco undeserving. Flacco had a great game, but Jones was the star of this game. Take away one of Jones' TDs and Flacco is unquestionably the MVP, but he actually did convert both which should give him the nod.

Jones actually made two plays in the whole game. One reception for a TD and one kickoff return for TD. Aside from those two plays, he had 4 kick returns for 98 yards and 2 punt returns for 28 yards. After the opening kickoff in the second half he had 3 kick returns for 68 yards. Granted, the two big plays gave him a lot of all-purpose yardage. And he made those great plays when they counted. But this game was so unlike Desmond Howard's Super Bowl MVP, when Brett Favre threw two long touchdown passes and ran for a short score but otherwise had a very mediocre game.

They should just change it to best player. As soon as the word valuable is used it almost always means a QB will win

I mean, I can see an argument for Jacoby winning MVP, but come on. He made 2 plays the entire game right? Granted two huge plays, but none the less, two plays. If anybody thinks that somehow those 2 plays masque the tons of great throws Flacco made especially on 3rd down all game then to each his own...

Flacco had another perfect playoff game, he made this entire post-season run look like the pre-season. Pay the man.

Even if Jones doesn't score on that catch, who'se to say Flacco doesn't cash it in anyway? Either way they both played well but 99% of the time the QB gets the glory, as he should since he'd take the heat for the loss.

The fact that he was playing both the AFC championship game and SB with a giant ass smile on his face, like he was just throwing it around in the backround, was hilarious to me.

Joe Flacco: intentionally under-throwing passes. He is that good!

Flacco had another perfect playoff game, he made this entire post-season run look like the pre-season. Pay the man.

This statement is fact and yet this discussion exists because a ball he threw 50 yards in the air in a muddied pocket on the run which ended up as a 56-yd TD, wasn't perfectly thrown.

Jones played his ass off. But he really only made two plays the entire night like he said.

And Flacco was "extremely unimpressive aside from his 3 TDs?" What the ****? First of all it's insanely ridiculous to discount his THREE ******* TDS. Second of all that statement is 100% untrue. Off the top of my head. 1) 3rd and inches having the BALLS and perfect placement to Boldin. 2) The audible to Rice. 3) Making Ed ******* Dickson look good. 4) The two incredible somehow completed/perfectly accurate rolling out throw-away first downs.

And if you don't think the 56-yard TD to Jones was a good play by Flacco you need to re-adjust your standards and stop taking for granted what these guys do. That's a tough ******* throw all things considered, and any bomb 50 ******* yards in the air with bodies around you is impressive with a little perspective about what these guys are physically doing - they aren't Madden characters. And it got there.

That play where he was forced out of the pocket on third down and throw thaat 31 yard pass to Boldin was awesome and unbelievable. Flacco should have been sacked but kept the play alive. He was able to work the pocket and buy time even when WRs werent open and found someone. His throws were right on the money. He was phenomenal and one of the best performances by a QB in the Super Bowl and post season all together.

He down-right deserved the MVP award. This thread is absolutely another "Flacco isn't that good " thread.

NOTE: When I said Flacco was a top 8 QB before in my rankings, I got ripped for it. When I said he was better than Luck, everyone had a conniption.

WHo's laughing now?
