Like I said, your three best designed run plays first three downs. Play it by ear if you get to fourth down. You don't call timeout there. If they back us up, fine....more space gives you a better route design so you have more options as a play-caller. But you put the onus on the official to throw the flag, which I don't know if they do because CK snapped it right at zero. But shotgun passes, inside the 10 yard line, three straight plays is unforgivable. Especially after seeing such a well-designed TD run by Gore fooled them so easily just minutes earlier from about the same distance.
And CK should have went to VD on 4th down. Lobbed it up right in the middle of the endzone and let VD out-jump the LB. He made his mind up he was going to Crabs and you can't do that, not in that situation. I know Ellerbe was right on him but a little pump fake could have froze him and got him enough time for a quick flick of the wrist. Young QB mistake...it is what it is,

Yes, but that's more of a coincidence than a trend. I also think that this 49ers team and staff >>> those Dolphins teams of the early 80's.
Nothing is assumed but I do like their chances to be back in the mix of the Final 4 again next year, with more experience and talent to hopefully finish the job with #6.

It was just a point to never assume SB appearances

Yeah I can't believe Kaepernick missed Walker. If I'm going to go down fighting, and passing, I'm going to throw it towards the middle of the endzone. I'm not gonna try to do one of these little sneak in the corner pass plays. That never works.
Apparently Kapernick audibled on the 4th down when he realized it was an all out cover zero blitz. I would have just used the last time out instead of relaying on a fade to the endzone that hasn't shown any semblance of success this season with Crabtree. Maybe it worked in practice. Whatever.

What the hell is Walker doing on that third down play? Does he really think Crabtree is going to score?

Pretty sure he's raising his hands in frustration/surprise because of how open he was for the Super Bowl winning touchdown.

Would have been great if he would have been targeted/caught that for many reasons... then, there is this...

Huh? What do you mean they overachieved?
The reason both Nolan and Singletary were fired is this team underachieved for years. This team has a linebacker corps that rivals the Dome Patrol. It has a top 10 WR and a top 5 TE in Crabtree and Vernon Davis. It has all those high draft picks on the offensive line, who are now starting to play to their potential.
This staff has gotten this team to achieve. Nothing more, nothing less. There's tons of talent here. The problem is, that probably won't last.

This year the expectations were higher because of how the team played last season. Not many at all thought the Niners in Harbaugh's first year last year would go be playing the NFC Championship and would lose barely in OT. Many HOPED they would win the division but if Harbaugh had the team at .500 his first year, he would have got a pass and the playoffs would be the goal for this year. Due to them overachieving last year, expectations were raised this year and many thought they would win the division and possibly have a shot at the Super Bowl. They were FAVORED in the big game and if they had played 4 good quarters of football, they would have easily won (and possibly dominated) the Super Bowl. Even optimists that thought they'd go far this year would still admit that the circumstance that played out could be seen as overachieving. Hell, they even had the most Pro Bowlers in the NFL. They did everything but bring home #6, which they easily could (and should) have.

I'm having trouble with this loss, gotdamn it hurt. I'm also worried Seattle is gonna whoop our arse from here on out, it feels like the window might be closing. This D needs to get faster and rejuvenated asap....I mean this year we basically had every key player healthy and ready to go, that's likely not gonna happen again. Heck, the last TWO years we've been pretty healthy. This one was ours.

We've actually been healthy for much longer than that. For example i think we've had defensive starters miss like 15 games due to injury in the last 5 years. At this point i think its a product of a good strength and conditioning staff, and of course a little bit of luck as a lot of things in this game can be.
Seattle will contend, no doubt, but so will we. Both teams will be really good. If we faced them in the playoffs the deciding factor could be who's at home.
We'll be back next season, we'll contend for it again, and if we face anyone in the AFC besides the Ravens or a healthy Steelers we can hoist #6. But we have to get through a tough NFC. I'm predicting a 12-4 regular season, that should be good enough to earn the 2 seed but who knows.
Wouldn't be surprised if Kaep vs Wilson becomes the next great QB rivalry.
