I do use conditioner, every time I shower (every day), and in the summer when I'm producing more oils I use shampoo every day as well. But in the winter when there is less moisture in the air, and you aren't sweating as much from your head, I decrease shampoo use. Its unhealthy for your hair and scalp otherwise.

I've got thick hair for a white guy which is part of the reason I don't shampoo every day in the winter. All you gotta do is rinse it clean with body temperature water during the shower and it doesn't damage the hair or wipe away too much oil. Those of you with thin hair follicles who shampoo every day are killing the health of your hair. The natural oils your body produces are the best thing for your hair, you just have to comb it so it gets distributed evenly. I use a similar type of schedule for shampoo, and I too notice my hair looks and feels best on the second and third day. If I go any longer than that it still looks good, but feels greasy, so I never go more than three days without shampooing, but I condition every day, so that is part of it.

Washing your hair everyday is a great way to dry out your hair. Trust me, I hear about it every day from my gf and all four of her roommates. They'd know better than any of us.

I've been washing my everyday (sometimes twice a day) for well over a decade and I still have a beautiful, thick head of hair. Not dry. No split ends.
