The WRs this year just don't convince me, sorta like in 2008. I don't expect to have the same thing happen where none are drafted in the first round, but no one stands out to me.

I actually like this WR class quite a bit and there will be several really good ones in it.

That was a bad year to be a WR, lol.

Donnie Avery, Devin Thomas, James Hardy, Eddie Royal, Jerome Simpson, Malcolm Kelly, Limas Sweed, Dexter Jackson, all second rounders and all either on another team or out of the league, none particularly good.

Only guys that panned out where Jordy Nelson and DeSean Jackson.

So far, we are around 13.8 million above the cap. To get below the cap, we will restructure Ben Roethlisberger, Lawrence Timmons, LaMarr Woodley, and Antonio Brown. With those, we save 20 or so million.

I believe we cut Harrison, Suisham, and Cotchery to save a little over 7 million dollars. Willie Colon is a real wild card. If he agrees to restructure or a pay cut, then he stays. If not, I can see the team cutting him and taking their chances with paying his dead money. SteelerDepot said that the team can cut Colon after June 2nd and save 5.5 million dollars, but they have a dead money issue of 4.3 million next year. I don't see Troy, Clark, Keisel, Ike getting cut. Depending on all of this, it will give us with like 13 million in cap space. That money will help us sign Keenan Lewis back, along with any other FAs and our draft picks.

Mock draft:

1) Keenan Allen WR Cal

-With the loss of Wallace, the team needs a number 1 WR. While he isn't a burner, he makes all the tough grabs and can be a really good pro.

2) Kevin Minter LB LSU

-Three down linebacker brings depth and starting potential to our defense. We don't know how Spence is going to recover and Sly looks to be a ST guy only.

3) Brandon Jenkins LB Florida State

-A first round pick before he got hurt, he'd be a steal here in hopes he regains his old form.

4) Stepfan Taylor RB Stanford

-Not a burner or the best athlete, but a good football player and is the perfect Steeler.

5) Nick Kasa TE Colorado

-He's still raw at the position, but his blocking and raw receiving skills could develop him into a fine NFL starter.

6) Rontez Miles S Cal U of PA

-Turn on the tape. This kid crushes everything in site and looks really good against the competition. I'm not sure he's a 4.4 guy and he has some off the field issues, but the kid is a baller and I believe under Troy and Clark, he can start in this secondary. If not, he's great depth and ST demon.

7a) John Wetzel OT Boston College

-From the Pittsburgh area and you can never have enough OLman as the Steelers have proven.

7b) Ryan Griffin QB Tulane

-Just the type of QB the Steelers would love to develop. He has a nice arm and shows solid zip and accuracy with his passes. He can also run decently to avoid trouble in the pocket.

Some UDFA:

Zac Stacey RB Vanderbilt
DJ Harper RB Boise State
Quincy McDuffie WR UCF (FAST)
Chris Jacobson OL Pittsburgh

I'd love a real number 1 target. I'm not sold on Allen being that guy.

Troy has more value here then in a trade. No ones giving anything for him with his injuries and age.

why would we cut sushi?

he was our most consistently (good) player last year

and yeah with troys contract + age + injuries we would be lucky to get a sack of footballs for him

We need money and could sign an UDFA for those duties. Not saying they are, but they could.

I'd rather not cut him. It's not a horrible option with how many good college kickers there are out there, but finding one isn't a given.

after looking into them further, its pretty clear to me that mingo would be a better fit than jordan for us.....but jarvis is by far #1

If I were the Steelers, I'd sign both Ryan Clark, Brett Keisel, and Troy Polamalu to extensions similar to what Aaron Smith did to lower their cap hits for the next two seasons.

Scott's latest has him going at 2. He can drop some, but he's not getting to 17. I'm not opposed to going up to get him.

jarvis could be there, im not sure id relate it to a guard falling because the man is the #1 player in the draft on my board....however, bowers had injury concerns that dropped him and gronk had the same back/neck problem that jarvis had. Hes a complete freakin beast so 17 would be awesome

If hes not there im fully on board with mingo, patterson, or allen
