Yea I don't think it's hard at all. I had a little trouble with accounting, but finance is straight forward as of right now.

Haha I found finance, especially the harder units, to be far more difficult but accounting is one of those things you either get or you don't from my experience. The thing I liked about accounting is you knew at the end whether you were right or wrong (or damn close anyway) where as in finance you could go down the completely wrong path and not know until you got your marks back :)

Finance at the high levels is definitely way more difficult than any accounting. It's not even close.

Wont get any argument from me on that front! I found even the intermediate finance units to be considerably harder than any accounting I've done.

In this instance you should multiply the percentages. If we can assume that height does not play a factor in being sick then 25% are sick and 35% of the sick population are under 10 ft.

so your answer is .25 x .35 = .0875 x 100 ( to make a percentage) = 8.75% of the trees are under 10 ft and sick

20% eh. Lets bring in fractions.

Simple 25% is 1/4, 35% is 7/20 and 40 is 2/5. So get all the bottom numbers to 20.

So you have 5/20 + 7/20 - 8/20 = 4/20. Lower that **** into 1/5 which is 20%.

Lol, I feel like I am always bumping up this thread... could anyone help me with this Calc 2 problem? I understand how to optimize multivariate functions but I have lots of trouble with word problems...

A building in the shape of a rectangular box is to have a volume of 32,928 ft3. It is estimated that the annual heating and cooling costs will be $2/square foot for the top, $4/square foot for the front and back, and $3/square foot for the sides. Find the dimensions of the building that will result in a minimal annual heating and cooling cost. What is the minimal annual heating and cooling cost?

bantx do you even quotient rule?
From what you have written, you should see that value you end up with is equal to the derivative of (4x-1/5x+3)

So use the quotient rule

and by doing so you should get

need some quick help, because my answers are conflicting with my teacher's answer key. and my answers are being confirmed by WA. inclined to think answer key is ****.

simplify:

his answer:

this seems all kinds of ****** up. first he is applying the rule of dividing exponents to taking the root of one? in this example pulling out n and subtracting five from its exponent. even if this is correct, why would n still be under the root? obviously i understand where the 2 * 5th root(5) comes from.

the way i understand it would be that you could do something like this if you had something like cube root(2x^9) and you can pull out x^3. so it would be x^3 * cuberoot(2x)

the answer i have for this (and the one that wolfram confirms) is:

who is wrong?
