I'd love to see a scientific study that says having a sex buddy readily increases your ability to commit to a long-term relationship. I'm sure if there was such a study, psychology studies would shred it to pieces for any number of reasons. I mean, because, what girl who is looking for a serious long-term relationship doesn't love her potential partner having meaningless sex with somebody before them?

Like I said, I guess I should know better than to post in here. Whoa man, I'm 23 years old now...and would like to find a chick I could settle down with if possible. Always been more of a relationship guy anyways, but I am also a guy....and I enjoy sex. There are some girls that I find attractive and would like to sleep with regularly but those girls aren't always girls I'm interested in trying to "wifey" up. So we are a piece of **** because we like to have sex when we don't have a girl we want to slow down with? Like what the hell...like everyone has mentioned, when you find the one you want to go exclusive with you aren't just trying to sleep with her...you think more of her and want to go slower...but can't just pick any random broad out of a hat. Of course you end the hook up once you find that girl, but until then....**** the **** out of your hook up buddies.

This has nothing to do with evolution. You're vague references to science are hilariously off. Like I said, I'd love to see a study that connects having sex on a regular basis with finding a long-term, committed relationship with another women. I'm well aware of the biological effects of having sex regularly, including the release of pheromones, but again, that doesn't answer AT ALL the question above. The fact that you're trying to draw comparisons to it is laughable at best.

First of all, you're putting a lot of words in my mouth. When did I ever categorize you as all being "pieces of ****" as you say? I never once said that. I was getting on Rosebud for two reasons: his continual veiled attacks using sexuality as a means of dismissal of the aforementioned argument, and his completely nonsensical argument that "DURR HAVING A HOOK UP BUDDY MAKES YOU MORE LIKELY TO GET A LONG TERM, SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP."

You're free to do whatever you want. I have no qualms if you want to have a hook up buddy. I too enjoy sex. I too talk differently around my buddies who are male compared to my girlfriend or girls who are friends.

I was more calling Scotty douche-ish for A) having a hook up buddy who he refers to as dumb (because, what does that make you?), B) having a hook up buddy who he is willing to dump at a moments notice if a better girl comes along, and C) making it seem like the girl was an issue because she wanted something more but he wanted to just be a hook up buddy (while at the same time being someone who wants something more with someone ELSE). Does anyone not see the irony and douchery in it?

Like I said, I should know better than attempt to break up the bro fest. Still, it's funny how I get attacked as being "female" or just straight up ad hominem attacks if I do so (not from yourself, though). I come from a big family with a lot of women in it so I acknowledge my views tend to be a bit outside of the norms among guys.

It is comical Rosebud mentions evolution as a means to back himself up. Humans are constantly evolving. As is our cultural understanding.

I never said it made you more likely to find a long term relationship. All I ever said was that it makes you more attractive to women, which is generally helpful when trying to find one.

To address these points...

A) I don't really see the problem with him thinking she isn't intellectually stimulating. He's physically attracted to her, but doesn't connect with her mentally, thus being in a purely physical relationship (hookup buddy). It doesn't mean he has no respect for her, he just doesn't connect with her on an intellectual level like you would want from a girlfriend. Most of us have met a girl or two like this (it goes the same for girls meeting guys too).

B) Isn't this kind of the point of a "no strings attached" hookup buddy? You both have agreed that its purely physical and there should be no emotional attachment. Thus if one person wants to move on to other things that should not be an issue. If they have established that this is purely a hookup buddy situation, this shouldn't be something out of the blue.

C) This is where the problem may be. If he senses that she may be getting emotionally attached he either needs to talk to her about it and straighten things out or just cut the line all together in order to avoid further drama and her getting hurt. That's where a bit of respect comes in and if you put you hooking up with her over the fact that she's getting hurt then that is douchey (not saying Scotty is doing this, but just hypothetically).

I'm not leading her on, and with me doing nothing with her on V-day, she pretty much knows it's a purely physical relationship.

I'm going to side with Forenci on this one. I've never been one for purely physical relationships. It's less douche-bagish if he has actually talked with the girl and they mutaully agreed it was nothing more than sex. But even then, I see it as a big waste of time.

so what's the deal with texting after you met someone? I met a girl the other night and while hungover the next day, texted her. That went well, I guess. that was yesterday. We didn't text much but it was whatever. Later that night, she met a mutual friend and told her that she's interested. I mean, I've met the girl once and was pretty drunk but we hit it off pretty well. I'm not at school for the weekend to hang either. Thoughts on not texting her til tomorrow night or Monday?
