My only concern with Cordarelle is if he has any character concerns. I think that Tennessee team had some issues with character and thats why they underachieved so much. Would be interested to see how he checks out particularly since he was a JUCO kid, but he's without a doubt the most talented guy in the draft head to toe. With his size and game breaking ability I'm not really sure who you could compare him to. Maybe a Dez Bryant type of guy?

He doesn't have any character issues. Unless you count not liking going to class as a character concern.

And I'd compare him to a bigger Percy Harvin.

just wanted to bump this after mayock has him as the #1 WR and that his jaw dropped after seeing patterson's film.

stock has risen to a 1st rounder after i predicted 2nd-3rd round after i made this post in october.

i really cant wait to see how he does at the combine, especially the 40.

patterson is easily my favorite prospect in the whole draft.

Some think he can jump all the way to top 5 consideration soon. That would be a big jump.

I can easily see it. He simply has that potential. I think whether or not it will happen comes down more to if a team is willing to use a top five pick on a wide receiver in general, and not so much if they rate Patterson as a top five player.

This guy is ridiculous, I am a big fan of his. I think the bigger Percy Harvin comparison is right in line, and it's scary how good he is in the open field. Typically guys like him, who are a threat to score every time they touch the ball, translate their talents to the next level really well. If he can hone his route running and consistency he has the skill set to be a top 5 WR in the league.

If I'm the Dolphins regardless of what WR I got in Free Agency there is no way I'd pass on him if he made it to their pick.

It would be a crazy move for a so so WR. Most of the guys that go that high not only have the elite triangle numbers but also have real production.

The guy has size like Randy Moss and is comparable to Percy Harvin in the open field. Someone is bound to fall in love with his potential. He's an absolute playmaker, and a good kid. Top 5 might be a reach, but its not that far off. I can't see him making it past the Dolphins at 12.

Stephen Hill had Randy Moss type measurables too and yet still went in the second round.

Stephen Hill doesn't have Cordarrelle's agility, quickness, versatility, return ability, nor a bad-ass name like CP.

And how about his film or production. Stephen Hill's name shouldn't even be brought up in this thread.

Yeah, there's no denying Patterson's production; all 26 catches in conference play this year. Patterson is a tremendous special teams player, but in terms of receiving ability he is a huge gamble in the first round.

So production only means receiving yards? Patterson's production alone isn't anything to brag about but in comparison to Hill? It's not even close.

For a guy being talked about so highly, you'd like to think he would have produced more as a receiver (also considering he was playing on a team who was consistently behind and had a first round caliber receiver on the offense as well). I will not deny his abilities as a returner, but he's got a considerable ways to go before being anything as a receiver.

It's because he's very, very raw and still has a ways to go in terms of growth. I mean he just came from a JUCO school I don't think anyone was expecting him to come to a SEC school and dominate as the #1 WR on a team with Da'Rick Rogers(at the time) and Justin Hunter who were already established.

He's going to have the bigger learning curve initially then a guy like Keenan Allen but the potential is certainly there, and a guy who was thrust unexpectedly into a prominent role on the team his first year at a D-1 level I'd say his numbers were very impressive.

It also seems like people want to nitpick and use key choice of words to try and diminish what he did like "he only had 26 conference catches". So the fact that he set a school record with over 1800 all purpose yards means nothing? Or leading the SEC in all purpose yards per game? Or his conference records he broke for punt return and kick return yards per attempt? All things considered I'd say his production and impact on that team was a bright spot, even if he does still have a ways to go in terms of playing the WR position, but that's the scary part.

He can come in day one and run two routes, the nine and quick hitch and do damage from day one, he has that type of athleticism. If your scheme depends on precise timed routes then he might not be worth a top 32 pick but if you are looking for a guy that can win one on ones then he has what you are looking for with crazy + upside. He is the only skill position player that I would have interest in the first round considering the issues the problems the boys have in the trenches.

Again, I'm not denying his abilities as returner because he is outstanding and special when it comes to special teams, but are you going to take a guy really high in the draft when he has shown minimal ability as a receiver, where he'll be expected to do the majority of his damage? I see a lot of Ted Ginn/Devin Hester to Patterson's game.

The difference imo is that Patterson is 6'3 and has the ability to win on jump balls down the field and in the redzone. His floor is Jacoby Jones but he has the potential of an oversized Percy Harvin.

He's shown tremendous ability as a receiver. He's shown he go can make tough catches even with defenders draped on him, that he can beat defenders deep, that he can be extremely elusive in the open field. Those are all things you want from a receiver you draft high. Lacking technical polish doesn't mean he hasn't shown ability as a receiver. The question isn't can he be a good receiver, its will he be one. Whether or not Patterson makes it in the pros will come down primarily to his mental development, and not a lack of natural ability.

Last sentence is spot on. He makes an immediate impact in ST.

I'd like to see how he does in interviews. Honestly, he hasn't come off as the smartest person from what I've seen. That, coupled with the fact that he's very unpolished as a receiver (The JUCO argument only makes a lack of smarts a more reasonable conclusion. No matter what level he was at, he still could've learned how to play football.) makes me quite hesitant. There's no denying the fact that he's an incredible physical talent, but I don't know if he'll be a world beater once he gets to the Big's. I think he would have to get into the perfect situation (i.e. being teamed up with an elite QB) for his talents to really ring true. That being said, because of his speed and agility, I don't doubt his ability to immediately make impact plays.

Can't see him dropping past the Dolphins at #12 and he could go as high as #6th to the Browns.

Bills apparently love him & their FO has been pretty vocal about getting a big WR who can make plays even when he's covered. Patterson hasn't shown this skill a lot at UT but he definitely has that ability.

And I see some Tyrone Calico/Charles Rogers.
