How does he just figure out he had a gun with him at the airport? That makes me think he doesn't pack his own bags, and some dumbass who packs his stuff for him made this mistake.
In which case he needs to fire or beat the **** out of whoever packed his bag.

Here's Attorney Jeremy Saland's, of Manhattan criminal defense firm Crotty & Saland, who spent seven years as a prosecutor in the Manhattan district attorney’s office before spending the past six years in criminal defense, take of the situation:
1. It looks like it was a registrated gun.
2. When he got to the airport he realized that he had his gun and reported himself
3. Only statutorily loaded.
4. No record. Bowers is a very religious man.

Allright, point well taken. I guess we will see what happens...

Still incredibly dumb.

On, the other had, having a gun at an airport is frowned upon about 10000000000000000000000000000000x more than having one at a nightclub in today's world. Don't get your hopes up too much. I'm guessing it's 50/50 that you get disappointed.

If the gun was registered in his name and somebody else packed his luggage for him and he self-reported it at check-in when he realized that his packer was a jackass, I'd like to think they'd go easy on him. Let him plea to a lesser charge and give him a maximum fine. It's not like he fired a gun in a crowded nightclub.
Of course, what "I'd like to think" will happen and what actually happens are usually two different things.

Slightly unrelated: Has profootballtalk.com become the "go to" website in terms of NFL news?
Although every now and then they dabble in "inside info" which is hard to verify, they are basically an amalgamation of all other news sources- they'll pick up stories from local news in Cleveland or Jacksonville, for example, and put it on PFT, whether its a transaction, development or a media worthy quote.
I know in the offseason i check PFT more than any other football website, including NFL.com

Yeah. PFT used to be a rumor mill, but now it's just *the* NFL news site.

It pretty much has. Gotta give them credit. They developed such a powerful and easy to maintain website that's a cash cow. They don't do anything special at all, other than provide one platform for all NFL news.
I pretty much use twitter and pft for all my NFL updates.

NFL.com used to be one of the best sports sites, compared to its rivals.
But slowly it has went downhill, trying to hard and doing too much. Before it was simple and you could navigate easily, it would load quickly and easy to read articles. Now its just flash and pzazz, takes forever to load. But sadly it still is better than the other sports, but not for long.
PFT is much better.

Not only that, in insists on playing about eight million ads before you get to what it is youre trying to watch or look for. And they don't allow you to mute the commercials either which is even more obnoxious. I try avoiding that site at all costs.

Lions receiver Calvin Johnson broke the NFL record for receiving yards in a season in 2012. And that was even harder than previously known.
Johnson played with at least two broken fingers most of the season and is still being seen around Detroit with his hand wrapped, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports.
Although Johnson was banged up a lot last season, the fingers weren’t among the injuries the Lions listed on their official injury report. Johnson frequently missed practice with knee and ankle injuries and also said at one point during the season that he had suffered a concussion and nerve damage, although he later backtracked on that claim, after questions began to be raised about why the Lions’ medical staff cleared Johnson to return to the game in which he allegedly suffered that concussion.
Asked about it today at the NFL Scouting Combine, Lions coach Jim Schwartz would not confirm that Johnson had broken fingers, but he hinted that the report was true.
“I am not going to comment on any of our players’ health,” he said. “But that’s not uncommon for a wide receiver. . . . We don’t have any injury reports this time of year. And you know how I am about injuries.”
And we know how Johnson is about injuries: He plays through them. And plays like the best receiver in the NFL.

I suspect that most NFL WRs play through broken or dislocated fingers.

I don't even think they put receivers finger issues on the injury report.

Gettleman stated he'd love to find a way to keep DeAngelo Williams, and according to sources, the Panthers are planning to do just that. That's pretty surprising given the cap situation to be honest. Apparently we aren't even necessarily restructuring his contract.

Couple things out of Buffalo today:
GM-in-waiting Doug Whaley was signed to an extension.
David Nelson will not be tendered in what appears to be a minor overhaul at the position. Hard not to like him, a great guy and go-to target on 3rd down. Big shame when he went down in Week 1. Just was never an outside option and we have a couple of potentially more dangerous slot players. I wish him the best if he is indeed done here.

(Via NFL Network) Report: #Browns are unlikely to meet WR/KR Josh Cribbs' asking price of $1.8M-2M per year. #Chargers and #49ers have expressed interest in him.

really? I just don't understand the browns. They might be willing to give Wallace 10+ million a year, but now 1.8-2 for a ST/slot guy?
I guess they have his replacement or concussions are worrying to them?

He's not really a slot guy...or any kind of receiver. He's just a return guy. I imagine they just feel like that WR roster spot would be better spent on someone who has some upside working from scrimmage.
Personally, I'd happily keep him if I were a GM, but probably not at that price. He's not changing the course of the game on special teams. I think after he tests free agency, that asking price comes down.

Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora
The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora
so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

I really hope it isn't KC, but if it is, I hope it isn't for anything higher than a 4th or 5th.

Smart move by the cheifs if this is true. Alex Smith is a much better option, both short and long term, than any QB picking in round 1, not to mention 1st overall.
Now the Cheifs can take the Best Player Available at 1. Most likely Luke Joeckell.
