Here's what John Dorsey had to say about Dontari Poe last week.
Quote:
“I have never seen a player of his size and his strength do some of the athletic things that he’s done. If you really watch him as he has developed and progressed in the 2012 season, I think he started slow. He was just beginning to get an understanding of how he was to make the transition from college to the pros. If you really watch the later part of the film, you saw a player that had some unique traits that are going to show. He’s got a lot of room to be a really good player for years to come in the National Football League. He’s a big man.”

The Eagles cut Cullen Jenkins. I'll be psyched if he's affordable enough for the Bears to bring into the DT rotation.

He seemed to do better as a 3-4 end for the Packers. Just a general impression though, I didn't watch him closely at either Green Bay or Philly. I wonder what his asking price will be.

He's a good penetrator, doesn't offer a whole lot against the run. I really like Jenkins as a DT in a 4-3 where he's paired with a NT who can stuff the run.

If he's in a 3-4 that'd ask him to have more emphasis on their DE's getting pressure on the QB, then yeah, but he is best served as a UT or weakside tackle in a 4-3.

Edit: Basically, I don't think you'd want him in Indy. He's a solid player, with great skills, but his skill set and body type limit him.

Yeah we don't run a primarily 1-gap odd front (whether that's by design or because we lack the athletes (or both) I don't know) so maybe he's not a great fit.

Great fit for Chicago splitting time with Henry Melton.

Eh, perhaps on paper...Dorsey and Poe would definitely benefit from a scheme change, but there's zero chance Jackson would survive as a 4-3 DE IMO..Plus everyone has seemed to have forgotten that Hali wasn't exactly thriving in the 4-3 before we switched over to 3-4...He had his moments picking up Jared Allen's scraps, but he never flashed the ability in the 4-3 that he has as 3-4 OLB.

Plus, that line-up would ignore arguably our best pass rusher - Justin Houston.

For everyone else who doesn't know, Brady just signed a three year extension for only $27 mil. Wonder if it's all guaranteed or something, because it's silly cheap.

I'm pretty sure it is, but that doesn't really matter. This deal will give the team an additional $15 mil. over the next two years. Brady wants more trophies, and he'll do whatever it takes to get them. Classy move.

Ok, found out what the dealio is with Brady. It lowered his cap numbers for the next two years.

The bone thrown to him in exchange for the low overall money? It guaranteed what he had left on his previous contract. All of the new money is guaranteed, too. Essentially, it converted his contract into a 5 year/60 million fully guaranteed deal. Every last penny is getting paid to him no matter what happens. He's under contract until the end of his age 40 season.

Joe Flacco is a youngster just entering his prime, was on a SUPER cheap rookie deal, is getting his first free agent contract, won't get 60 mil guaranteed, and is a unibrowed troll.

Fail to see how Brady's contract applies to Flacco...unless you're saying that he should become the highest paid player in the NFL on his first big deal the way Brady did.

Brady's first big deal was in 2005. It was big for its time. It just didn't look large by the end of it because the era of big salary cap jumps started happening after it was already in place.

I was mocking you. You said his first big deal made him the highest player in the NFL, which it didn't. So, you lose.

Oh. I do lose. Brady didn't lose, though. He got two really big free agent contracts before finally taking this team-friendly one.

I wasn't suggesting the man doesn't deserve a raise, I'm saying have enough sense (like Mr. Brady) to realize that $20 million a year doesn't buy you a damn thing that $15 million won't, but it might win you a Super Bowl. Food for thought.

Brady had two extensions that weren't team-friendly. It's easy to leave money on the table after you've already bent your team over the barrel twice and become filthy rich. He's not some saint.

This is kind of like the people saying that Warren Buffett is a great guy because he thinks he should be taxed more. Big deal. He's already made 53 billion. He wasn't saying that **** when he was looking for his first post-college job.

I'm sure that if the Ravens offer Flacco a contract that pays 12 million fully guaranteed per year until the end of his age 40 season, he'll sign it, just like Brady. 13 years/156 million, fully guaranteed would be tough to turn down.

One wonders how people will feel about Brady's fully guaranteed contract if he falls off a cliff like Marc Bulger did five minutes after the Rams paid him.
