Alex Smith traded to Chiefs
Per Jay Glazer on twitter:
https://twitter.com/JayGlazer/status...09645597605888
CBS is reporting it's for a 2nd rounder in 2013 and a 2nd rounder in 2014.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/ey...o-2nd-rounders
Won't be official though until the start of the league year on March 12. Thoughts?

for their second round pick and a conditional pick.
Chiefs fans aren't going to be happy.
You can officially stop mocking Geno to them

Yup, it's Luke Joeckel or Sharrif Floyd time in KC!
Two 2nd rounders seem like a little much for a stop-gap QB, doesn't it? Doesn't really improve their team THAT much, IMO.

This is why the Chiefs are going to continue to suck!!! Really??? The 33rd overall pick?
Last I checked they are rebuilding, and you dont rebuild with a 28 year old QB who only started to succeed when Jim Harbaugh got there. You groom your own young QB in your own system!
Man I hate the 49ers though after this trade. As if they needed more draft picks!

Awful for the chiefs..... and now it's like SF has two late first rounders..... SF is so stacked.

John Clayton was just on 101espn in St. Louis said it could be a swap of 2nd rounders. And a pick to SF in 2014. Doesn't know for sure though right now.

he has been burned before by the Cassell trade but not taking Geno Smith might sting for awhile

That wouldn't be AS bad. Switching second round picks equates to 264 points, which is pick 62. Still terrible, but better.

Chiefs get Smith now, Joeckel in the first and a pick up a QB for Reid to develop in the third - not that bad considering no QB is a shoe in for number 1 overall. Or they trade down in the first and get a QB and acquire picks.
It could be worse.
Also, I can't wait for the 49ers to suffer from SB hangover.

If they draft Joekel, then it's like the Jags have the #1 pick.

I'm not trying to sound hyperbolic, but we could be witnessing the 2nd 49ers dynasty.
I don't even know what their real needs are, besides depth. Maybe corner/safety help.
This is crazy.
