That's my point, the team wasn't/isn't very talented or deep so filling out a strong roster will be a challenge in year one for Idzik.

It will be difficult for the Jets to have a winning record with the type of talent they will be able to afford to fill all these holes we keep talking about. But if they're going to lose, I'd rather watch young talent learning and trying to figure out the NFL game, than a bunch of washed up, slow, overpaid players past their prime. I'm not disappointed with any Jet that's been cut so far. With FA's, I'd like to see Keller stay, but if he doesn't, oh well.

IMO they should use the cap space we freed up to keep Landry. Especially if he's only looking for 6m a year, that's a pretty modest price considering how well he played last year. Something like a 3 yr / 17 mil contract with 2013 fully guaranteed and only 2-3 mil guaranteed after would be a pretty solid deal.

Slauson and Moore are likely gone, I can only see us keeping Slauson if he's reasonable about his price tag, somewhere around 1 mil a year, maybe 1.5 tops. This draft is very strong at guard so we can pick up replacements easily, just need to stock up on picks.

Hooray! I wonder if he'll get cut if he doesn't restructure. Either way, good news!

I agree they should do everything in their power to keep Landry.

I've seen Matt Moore rumors. What do you guys think of him? Personally, I would love to bring him in for competition with Sanchez along with a mid-to-late draft pick.

Goodbye Revis !!! My son will still wear your jersey! All these reports coming out from the combine, shunning Revis's reps, actively shopping him around, etc, has me believing that there is no way he is back with the Jets again.

As for Moore, I'd be open to it, although I'm not sure if that would mean we don't draft a QB. And I think we should, somewhere in the draft.

Adding on to the Revis thing, it's looking like SF's stockpile of picks (pending the Smith trade to KC) is going to help them take a shot at landing Darrelle. I think it's likely this deal will get done, the question is how much will the Jets get.

Also, Chris Mortensen believes the Jets have a high interest in bringing in Brady Quinn. If that's the case, Sanchez, McElroy, Quinn, Simms ...... do we even draft a QB? Not implying that any of those guys are the answer. But with an average at best QB crop in this years draft, maybe they are just going to wait until next year to address QB in the draft.

I would have high hopes for this FO if they wait on drafting a QB until next year. It'd show some good foresight, for once. I'd be fine with Moore and Quinn. On talent alone, Sanchez should be the best. But everything considered, if they were all to compete, I wouldn't be surprised if Moore won out.

And have you heard of SF acquiring picks to try and land Revis or is that just an educated guess? The parallels between that and when they brought in Deion would be funny... and bad for the rest of the league.

Quinn doesn't really do anything for me, but I'd be down for Moore. I think we're all expecting a pretty rough season, so taking some shots on upside and holding off for a high first round QB this year (provided they, like seemingly everyone else, don't like this year's crop) would be a reasonable route to take IMO.

Different sources I've been reading throughout the day, starting with Rotoworld reporting that Jay Glazer tweeted out "Chiefs acquired QB Alex Smith from the 49ers in exchange for a second-round draft pick in 2013 and a conditional third-round pick in the 2014 draft." It is rumored that the conditional pick could be a 2nd rounder in 2014. That would give SF the 31st and 34th picks in this draft. And I believe 5 of the first 93 picks. Then about two hours ago, multiple sources from YahooSports reported that the SF is going to take a shot at acquiring Revis. Apparently with compensation picks, SF will end up with 15 picks in this years draft. Can you imagine that mock?

Also an unnamed team source reported to CSN Philly that the Eagles are also looking at Revis with the losses of Rodgers-Cromartie and Asomugha. But a deal was probably unlikely with Kelly unlikely wanting to part with picks starting new with the team.

Also rumored with the Quinn interest, the Jets have been linked to Cassel.

Yeah the Revis-San Fran thing is a rumor going around. Apparently they'd even take a chance at not extending him. Not huge on the idea of trading Revis, but 31 and 34 would give 4 top 40 picks and go a long way towards building the team long-term. Not sure they could get it, but that's probably as good a haul as they'll find.

I think the Jets should play hardball with the 49ers anmd hope to get a huge deal. The 49ers have a ton of picks and a loaded, young roster. They don't need a million rookies. Revis would make them undoubtedly the favorites to win the superbowl unless kapernick somehow regresses big time, which i doubt. They may be desperate to get a pretty surefire number 1 corner. And honestly, I dont know why resigning him would be that big a deal considering how much money we will have available when sanchez is gone. I don't know why it is so unreasonable.

Yeah, I agree that it seems a bit ridiculous for a team like that to have that many picks. It's almost overkill. It makes sense that they use some of them to do something big. For a team with with only a few real needs, and CB being their biggest need, Revis makes sense. Although now, SF sources are saying they are not interested. Looks as though they will play hardball with us also. I still think something can happen.

The salary cap has been bumped to $123.9M. Nice bump!

Looks like we might be going into camp with a Sanchez - Garrard - Quinn - McElroy - Simms QB group if the rumors are correct. Wonder who wins the job out of that crew.

The more important question is who cares who wins that Qb competition?

We'll have a little island of misfit quarterbacks here in Florham Park.

I'm rooting for Matt Simms, to be honest. We all know what those other guys are capable of.

I don't think the Jets 2014 starting QB will be on the 2013 team. Some will be one and done, and the others will stay on as the backups to the guy we draft or sign in '14. It just doesn't look like this is the year we build our future on at that position.

If they're bringing in two vets I'd have to imagine that'd be the case. Looks like they aren't going to draft anyone. I hope that's because they internally decided they don't like any QB's in this draft because I'd like to think they'd be open to drafting someone if the right value and fit presented itself.

He must have matured since then, but I remember reading about him having a bad attitude in high school. And typically, when you get a guy like simms and say that at least he is an unknown commodity, hes known for a reason. Personally, Id like Mcelroy to win the job. Not because of the one game he won last year, just because he seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. If we are all being honest with ourselves, Sanchez will probably at least start the season as Qb1.

Sadly but unsurprisingly, I think Josh is right. I do kind of wonder if they'd give Mike Glennon a run in the third if he's around or a guy like Colby Cameron/Sean Renfree in the late rounds. But I don't think they'll draft one.

Yeah, I think Sanchez does start the season at QB. But it seems like a big "**** you" to the fans. He's pathetic and we've all seen enough.

Yeah I'd almost rather they hand the job to a veteran. Garrard I would think has to be a better QB than Sanchez, but doubt he stays healthy. I think our best case scenario, besides a completely shocking good rookie, is probably Matt Moore.
