Well clearly the Patriots FO has been reading this board for quite a while. They just missed the part where we all wanted Chandler Jones, other than that they just toy with our hopes and dreams.

Let our big three Fa's walk, there not worth the money!!!!! Don't draft a WR in the first round, or get one in FA.

I have a better idea, let's draft cornerbacks every year that always suck. It will be OK though, we can trade for a guy midseason. He will turn out to be the best corner we have had since Ty Law. Prolly not worth bringing him back though, he doesn't work hard enough. Any moar Darius Butlers or Terrence Wheatleys in this class?

At least it is related to what he got drafted for, not like Michael Westbrook beating the tar out of Stephen Davis. It kind of worked out for him though since he is a fighter now. Didn't Baldwin almost fight somebody too actually?

Darius Butler has worked out pretty well for the Colts. I'm hoping we resign him to play nickel.

Supposedly Brian Hartline is about to re-sign with Miami @ 6-6.5 per season.
Smart. He's legit as a #2.

On the face of it that seems reasonable for Hartline.

That's unfortunate. I would have liked to see NE have a shot at Hartline for $$ similar to that in FA.

You can't use Miami to develop ALL of your receivers. Maybe you guys need a new WR coach. Gosh.

lmao. It sure as hell isn't happening in-house.
BB's track record for WRs is just abysmal.
Patriots:
Brandon Tate
Julian Edelman
Matt Slater
Chad Jackson
P.K. Sam
Bethel Johnson
Deion Branch
David Givens
Browns:
Mike Miller
A.C. Tellison
Derrick Alexander
Patrick Rowe
Rico Smith
Augustin Olobia
Michael Jackson
Shawn Wiggins
Aside from Branch he's misfired on everybody except the late round conversions.

Yeah we probably do, and find a DB coach while you're at it. The fact that you want your team to bring back Darius Butler should make our staff look itself in the mirror considering he was (no word will suffice for Butlers suckiness) in New England.

Branch/Givens/Bethel Johnson looked like it was going to be so good, plus we had Daniel Graham, Ben Watson got drafted a few years later. That did not work as planned.

If the Patriots signed Hartline, he'd get 800-900 yards and the fans would talk about how much he sucks and how Brady never has wide receivers. They'd want to cut him loose after a season.

He trolled the NFL that one year in Denver and got everyone thinking that maybe he could put it all together.

You get what you pay for though. Who of those guys was a huge bust? If all your doing is drafting mid to late round guys and re-tread free agent WR's you can't really expect anything else. Sure if you find a Cruz or Miles Austin it's nice but how many years now have they had multiple 1st round picks? Never is one spent on a WR, so I'm not surprised at all. This year would be a great year to extend Welker, get a mid tier WR FA and draft a guy late in the 1st like Keenan Allen.

lol, I refuse to go through 535 pages of this free agency thread to see what how many times this has happened
"John Doe has been cut"
Patriots fan- I wouldn't mind him being a Patriot, he fits our system perfectly!
-or-
"John Doe will not be signed by his team and will become a FA"
Patriots fan- I wouldn't mind him being a Patriot, he fits our system perfectly!
I guess it is unfair because other fans do it (I've been guilty myself a few times), but I find that it happens in excess amounts when it comes to the Patriots. I'm not upset or attacking you guys, I just find it entertaining.

I wouldn't classify any of them as a "huge bust". Bethel Johnson was a late second rounder who was very one dimensional, but he really just sucked after his first year. He made a few big plays but then did nothing.
Graham was a great blocking tight end and a decent receiver, you don't draft that in the first round.
Watson was one of the more frusturating players we ever had, just never put it together. He has stuck around for a while but he is a fringe starting caliber NFL tight end despite having all of the tools in the world and a good head on his shoulders.
Branch was money in the playoffs then we cashed in on him, he is pretty much done now. We didn't pay Givens and it looks like that was the right decision, I hate what happened to him and he was one of my favorite Patriots.
I am all for us drafting a receiver in the first this year and pretty much all the Pats fans seem to be on board with it. Welker coming back is inevitable, I am OK with it but some people don't share my sentiment on that. Even with Welker and a potential high pickm we still need somebody else, and bringing in a mid-level FA sounds like a likely scenario. No disagreement on that front.
We probably will just bank on Gronk/Hernandez being healthy, re-sign Welker, and pick up a 31 year old vet whose gas light is on. I am just preparing for it.

Is Karl Klug a FA ? cause he would fit our system perfectly.
