I just always noticed how Warner looked like he used his elbow and wrist when throwing short to medium ranged passes. He didn't really have a "wind-up"

Anybody remember Vince Young's "flick" throwing motion? it was ugly as hell, but he never had to move his arm to make a throw and he had plenty of power on his balls...if only..

ROFL. Maddy McBropants.
I'm not sure what the exact context of Sports Science's attempt to redefine the meaning of the quickness of a release. I don't discredit their theory, but I definitely disagree with using their "new" definition in this context.
The common definition is just common knowledge. I don't need to look up something that's so obvious. Simply will not waste anymore of my time.

All time its Marino. Its just lightning quick. The ball was out once he decided mentally where to go.
Another guy I seem to remember being pretty good was Vick. He could just flick it and the ball would shoot out of his hand.

As something calling itself science, it should know that adding in a whole set of variables into the equation is just foolish. Plus really what part of target acquisition technically has to do with release.
Basically the general consensus is that people are trying to judge the quickest time from a QB makes the decision to where he is throwing and to the point that the ball leaves his hand.
However QB's can make a gap between when we think the throwing motion has started and when it actually has, for better or worse.

Marino and Favre have to be up there. Rodgers currently in the nfl passes the eye test from what I've seen of him.

I never said anything about Sport Science I saw my info on fox. And I'm not mad, it was a serious question. It would be great to have a reference.

Yes I remember Marc Bulger. Too bad he got abused in Martz's system taking sack after sack. I think that screwed him over eventually.

People are mixing up velocity and speed of release...

Quick releases are good.
Quick releases with incredible velocity are better.
Dan Marino releases are the best ever.
Dan Marino was the best pure thrower in NFL history. Best quarterback? No. But he was the best thrower the game ever seen. If he played today he'd shatter records.

Mark Brunell had the best weight distribution I've seen in a quarterback. He loaded from the hip, but his release was quick. He got the most out of only average arm strength.
Drew Brees would be my pick at present.
