Finally watched Drive in its entirety. I want to say it was good, but the Al Brooks character makes zero sense.

Did you not like the performance or did you feel the character didn't fit? I loved him as a villain.

Everything is Illuminated is such a perfectly beautiful film, still don't get why it doesn't get more love.

His character's actions made no sense and the character was ultimately undeveloped.

I just don't get how this film lost money and why it didn't win more awards. Crash came out the same year and won best picture despite being a far less interesting and emotionally powerful film. **** like that is why I just can't make myself care about the Oscars.

Everything is Illuminated just came out at the wrong time. One of my all-time favorite movies. Just an amazing and beautiful movie. Not only was the movie amazing, but it also introduced me to Gogol Bordello, which I am also very thankful for.

I agree that it's ridiculous that the movie wasn't even included in the Academy Awards or Golden Globes process, but that was a really tough year.

Which movies do you always just stop and watch when you see they are on TV no matter how many times you have seen them??

I.E. One for me is Shawshank Redemption

And I know Abrams is a huge Star Wars fan and it's clear that he implemented some of that in his version of Star Trek, making it a lot more action based. I'm still waiting to see if they're actually going to go explore the universe instead of stopping bad menaces that are threatening Earth.

Meh. As a big Dragonball fan, I'm skeptical. I wonder if it will fall into the same formulaic fashion as the previous 13 films. Of course those were made a while back and Akira Toriyama is apparently very involved with this one which could be good and bad. I just hope something new is brought to the table that we haven't seen before and it's not just a huge fight fest resulting from certain contrivances like the other movies. Obviously people just want to see huge action sequences, but I think like some of the earlier stories within the series, a solid story could be made so that when we do get those moments it feels like the film has earned it. We'll see.

The new star trek movie is the only star trek I've ever seen and I thought it was awesome, a perfectly fun summer blockbuster like the Avengers was last year.

But know that I have every movie channel it's different, I'll watch if they happen to be on & watch the rest from the point I entered, like,

Pulp Fiction
Dr. Strangelove
Blade Runner
Thin Red Line

King Of Comedy
Jackie Brown
In Bruges
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
21 Jump Street
He Got Game
Drive

You know what movie I don't think gets mentioned nearly enough but I thought it was a great movie - Road to Perdition with Tom Hanks.....I probably only saw it twice, but never see it mentioned.

Maybe im the only one that liked it - thats possible.

Very very good movie. I agree it's not mentioned enough.

I could see why people think it was fun, especially people unfamiliar with the franchise or people that weren't interested in what came before this movie. It really depends on taste. Personally I don't necessarily need the running through the corridors all the time, jumping off skyscrapers and cliffs, or other action based tropes (which Star Trek was never great at in the first place or known for) to have a good story. It's a new direction for Star Trek, and I can see from both sides why some enjoy it and some are a little turned off by it. Me, I'm in the middle. There are some things I like that Abrams did, and there are some things that irk me. His vision for Star Trek is definitely fun it's own way, but personally it's not what got me interested in Star Trek in the first place. I'll definitely see the new film just because I'm curious as to how they'll build off the first one. I am skeptical though. Hopefully just from a story standpoint it doesn't have some of the big plot holes the first one did.
