In terms of RFA offers, yes. However, Cruz can just sign the tender, play out his contract and hit FA and try to get his money that way. He is in no rush to re-sign if he feels he is valued more than what we are offering.

I would rather have Chase over Dan Connor. Even after all the times I have bashed Chase Blackburn. I still think he is better then Connor.

Or not be too good, because he would price himself out of our range. But then again we are talking about Fewell's system, so I am not worried about exceeding expectations aspect of it all.
I doubt Cruz re-signs now. I think he tests the market after this season. He could do it Monday if the weekends don't count as the week since he fired the agent. So monday, might be the day he can re-sign. If Monday passes, and nothing happens, then I think he is long gone after the season.

Ehh Dan Connor? That's a downgrade which is saying something.
I don't want Myers either. Guy can't block at all.

It's like shopping at the Bargin rack. If it fits but there is a hole in the short, it's ok, you probably wear it once a twice and you're done. This is a 1 year deal, after it, we go shopping at the rack again.

Didn't want Dan Connor when he was a rookie and everyone on this board thought we would draft him but us, don't want him now

Brandon Myers was always tops on the Giants' wish list to replace Martellus Bennett. They were just waiting out the initial frenzy

c-cool, alright. I'm ok with him. Wanna see the numbers though. Him-AR-Bear is a nice trio of tight ends. I'm fine with it

I really doubt it unless it's a 1 year deal. Apparently Pope likes a late round guy, but we have way more holes to look at and those 3 are perfectly fine

It was reported we have an interest in a mid round TE. That's why I feel we will draft one. This guy probably has a 1 year deal.

Myers can't block for ****. Our OL sucks and our TE's don't block. Bad combo.

I think we will be fine. Pope will teach him to block good enough.

Mike Garafolo & #8207;@MikeGarafolo
I'm gonna have to duck from NYG fans after this one. Kenny Phillips' deal with the Eagles: 1 year, $1.85m; up to another $1m in incentives.
That means 30 other teams weren't willing to give him any more. That answers a lot of questions on what teams thought of his talent and knee. That's cheap, and wow, no one else even bothered offering more money and more contract length. The sad thing is he is not old. He still is young.

Phillips was diagnosed in 2009 with patellofemoral arthritis and was put on IR, at age 22.

But it’s rare for a player as young as Phillips to have his condition, patellofemoral arthritis, which leads to a hole in the cartilage in the knee. As he continued to play, the hole got larger. He suffered swelling, no pain, and his play suffered.

I mean, it does say a lot, really. I'm just upset we didn't beat that offer but who knows if Kenny would have taken it considering he hates Fewell's system.
He played great last year. I don't see how not giving him a cheap two year deal would be all that risky.

No, but very telling. I am not sure did make an offer. Like Mara says. We have an offer and it's up to the players either to take it or they can see if something is better. MB found a great offer from the Bears, as did Kevin Boss with the Raiders.
KP didn't get a lot of interest to begin with. That says a lot about his play, which is blamed on the system. That is not good for him, but in terms of health that hurt him too.
Why risk signing damaged goods when you're cap strapped? I am sure we had an offer, and obviously he thought he got better. Clearly, from early reports he had issues with how his knee was rehabbed which was reported and the system. I guess being a glorified center fielder wasn't to his likings.

Kenny's play on the field was phenomenal. He must have generated no market bc his knees are mush.
I still wouldn't mind giving him the same contract. What would we have to lose? I'm still pissed about that.
