I've seen several places that the difference between handtimed and electronic timed to be .24.... I don't buy any of that. What they may be referring to is the starter gun vs the reaction time of the runner before they actually start unlike in the 40 yard dash where the clock starts on first movement of the runner.

I posted scientific studies on here last year, or the year before, stating the +/- was more like -.05 to +.15. If you watched the combine all you have to do is look at the original handtimed numbers and compare them to the official electronic times. You will see that almost all of the players fell into the -.05 to +.15 categories.

If we are going with athletic freaks I'm going to go with an unknown... former UTEP DT Leif Larsen, 6'5 309 lbs, 5.04 40, 1.74 10, and 45 reps of 225 (he had 10 taken away due to not going all the way up). After football he became a professional boxer where he has run his record up to 17-0 (14 KOs).

Another freak is former Colorado School of Mines DT Blaine Sumner. 6'1 335 5.35 40, 1.82 10, 49 reps of 225 (had 3 reps deducted), 32" VJ, 9'09 BJ.... I'm pretty sure Sumner wasn't 100% drug free...

Peppers played most of his career for the Panthers closer to 260 than 280

But yea, he was a brute on the court at unc. He wasn't a star, though. I would compare him more to Julian Gamble @ Miami this season, with some more muscle.

They really needed them their second year. They were awful in the early season before football ended because Curry was their only real PG. I think the year after they quit playing was the 8-20 season.

I'm about 98% certain that Peppers didn't start for that team. I think it was Curry, Forte, Caple, Lang, and Haywood.

Yeah I'm trying to find something to confirm that Peppers was a starter for the Heels b-ball team but everything I read says he was a key reserve, sometimes the 6th man off the bench.

No way he was closer to 260 lbs. He is 6' 7" and no where near thin.

Matt Jones was not even a WR, he had to learn how to play WR after being a college QB. He was also projected to be a TE (6'6", 242 at the Combine) before he lost weight. So the Jaguars drafted a raw, converted WR and the guy spent his NFL career consuming cocaine.

Jordy Nelson: 15 TD in 2011. Eric Decker: 13 TD in 2012. There is hope.

JPP doesn't even belong anywhere near the top of this category. Ansah tests out better than JPP in virtually every category.

I dunno. This is a pic of Peppers from the 2007 season attached to an ESPN article questioning his lack of sack production that season.

He doesn't look under 260# to me in this pic.

Mario Williams/Julius Peppers. They're essentially the same in terms of size/build, speed, and playing style.

Its Peppers. Not only were his numbers freaky, but he was such a fluid athlete. A man that big shouldn't move so smoothly. I even recall him lining up for passes occasionally.

He lined up at TE on Goalline formations occasionally.

Never caught anything.

Peppers' problem is that basketball was his first love. He played football because he was much better at it. He slacked off for most of his career.

When he wanted to play though he was ungodly.

The only guy that made him look human during his prime was Mike Vick.

Nobody has #'s that touch Mario Williams.

6'7" - 294 lbs - 4.66 40, 35 reps at the bench and a 40.5" vertical.

The biggest freak since Reggie White is Mario Williams. The next is probably JJ Watt.

Absolutely not. He has always been well above 260. All you have to do is look at him. You can't be build like that and be that tall and weigh 260.

Having said that, what the hell was the STD year.

Peppers' problem is that basketball was his first love. He played football because he was much better at it. He slacked off for most of his career.

When he wanted to play though he was ungodly.

The only guy that made him look human during his prime was Mike Vick.
I actually remember Peppers making Vick look human a few times. I remember specifically Vick misjudged Peppers speed and hustle to the sideline and Vick got BLASTED by a completely horizontal Peppers. Speaking of inhuman, Michael Vick's performance in the national championship game against Florida State is the most freaky display of athleticism of all time. He made blue chip defensive players look like they were stuck in mud.

Clowney will be in the mix for sure. Its crazy to see him coming out of high school and knowing how that he is in this conversation. Guys like this are just a gift to football.

****Jadeveon Clowny will be #1, but he's not yet a draft prospect (not elligible)
1. Julius Peppers
2. JPP
3. Mario Williams
4. Carlos Dunlap (yes was definately a top athlete)
5. Ziggy Ansah

These are basically it for me, as I wasn't even born during the reggie white draft prospect years ;)
