Default 7DnBrnc's second 2013 mock (2 rounds)

This is the second mock that I have done for this draft. I didn't post the first one on here, though, but footballsfuture.com:

Trades:

* Jacksonville trades the second overall pick to Arizona for the seventh overall pick, second round pick, and RT Levi Brown as a throw-in (Eben Britton is a FA, and they could use more depth on the line).
* Buffalo trades the 8th overall pick to the Giants for the 19th overall pick, second round pick, and a fourth round pick.
* Houston trades the 27th overall pick to Tampa for a second rounder and a third rounder.

ROUND ONE

1. KANSAS CITY: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
This is getting more and more likely with each passing day.
2. ARIZONA (From JAX): Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
Was dominant at the Senior Bowl, and great at the combine.
3. OAKLAND: Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
It may just be a smoke-screen, but Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen have said that the Raiders are considering Geno Smith very seriously. And, since he won’t restructure his contract, it looks like the Carson Palmer error is over.
4. PHILADELPHIA: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
I have Star ahead of Sharrif Floyd because of their switch to the 3-4 defense.
5. DETROIT: Dee Milliner, CB Alabama
According to PFCentral, multiple sources have reported that the Lions are very high on Milliner at five. Dee was dominant last year, and he should be able to help fix a position that has been a revolving door for the Lions recently.
6. CLEVELAND: Dion Jordan, OLB-DE, Oregon
On Bill “Pop Culture Expert” Simmons’ BS report show, Michael Lombardi frequently implied that multiple pass rushers are important when building a defense.
7. JACKSONVILLE (from ARZ): Ziggy Ansah, DE-OLB, BYU
The Jags had the fewest sacks in the league last year. Mincey had a down year, and Andre Branch doesn’t look too promising so far.
8. N.Y. Giants (from BUF): Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
From the site Giants101, one of their scouts was talking about how much he loved Johnson. And, OT is an important need for the Giants. Beatty was solid, but him and Locklear were FA’s, and Diehl didn’t have a great season.
9. N.Y. JETS: Barkevious Mingo, OLB-DE, LSU
Jets could use some more pass rush help at the OLB position. This pick could also be traded.
10. TENNESSEE: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
Their pass defense was shaky. Finnegan left last year, and Verner may leave via FA next year.
11. SAN DIEGO: Chance Warmack, G, Alabama
They lost Louis Vasquez, and Tyronne Green may also be departing (he was just an average guard, anyway).
12. MIAMI: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
This may be a reach to some, but others have had him going this high. Could trade down, but may find it tough.
13. TAMPA BAY: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
Tampa could use inside pass rush, and Floyd will be just what the doctor ordered.
14. CAROLINA: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
They did re-sign Dwan Edwards, but they need more help at DT.
15. NEW ORLEANS: Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
Malcolm Jenkins is in the last year of his deal, and neither he or Roman Harper played that great last year.
16. ST. LOUIS: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
Bradford will be aided greatly by this fast and athletic playmaker, who had 112 catches for 1,280 yards and 12 TD’s last year.
17. PITTSBURGH: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia
Also could go WR here, but the value for Jones is too good at this point.
18. DALLAS: Johnathan Cooper, G/C, North Carolina
Offensive line is a sore spot in Dallas. Trading up for Vaccaro could also happen.
19. BUFFALO (from NYG): Cordarelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
Need a playmaker on the other side of Steve Johnson.
20. CHICAGO: Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State.
Jermon Bushrod was signed, but this group still isn’t up to snuff. Bushrod is only a small upgrade over Webb, who, along with J. Scott, shouldn’t be starting.
21. CINCINNATI: Alec Ogletree, MLB, Georgia
Vontaze Burfict was a pleasant surprise, but Rey Maualuga was terrible last year. They also lost Manny Lawson, and they could lose Thomas Howard as well.
22. ST. LOUIS (from WAS): Matt Elam, S, Florida
This is a major sore spot on defense. Craig Dahl went to division rival SF, and Quentin Mikell may not be back.
23. MINNESOTA (from SEA): Keenan Allen, WR, Cal
Greg Jennings was brought in, but more WR help is needed.
24. INDIANAPOLIS: Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee
Colts could use another weapon on the outside to go with Reggie Wayne (who is going into his 13th year) and T.Y. Hilton.
25. MINNESOTA: Kawann Short, DT, Purdue
Vikes could use a pass rushing presence inside, and they need someone to replace Letroy Guion, who is not a long-term answer.
26. GREEN BAY: Damontre Moore, OLB/DE, Texas A&M
More depth is needed behind Nick Perry and Clay Matthews.
27. TAMPA BAY (from HOU): Johnathan Banks, CB, Miss. State
Bucs are very thin at this position, and they get a good one in Banks, who has ball skills, outstanding instincts, and experience as a four-year starter.
28. DENVER: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
With the departure of Dumervil, the Broncos need a replacement, and get a steal with the 28th selection.
29. NEW ENGLAND: Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina
Pats could use another prospect at DT. We don’t know how the Armond Armstead experiment will work out, and Vince Wilfork is on the other side of 30. Also, you could see a trade here.
30. ATLANTA: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
Gonzo is coming back, but doesn’t have much left, and they don’t have much depth behind him.
31. SAN FRANCISCO: Johnathan Hankins, DL, Ohio State
I know that SF doesn’t really believe in the traditional nose guard, but Glenn Dorsey still isn’t a fit at NT, or in a 3-4 in general, and they lost Isaac Sopoaga.
32. BALTIMORE: John Jenkins, NT, Georgia
According to league sources, it looks like Jenkins is the guy they are targeting. They may move Ngata to NT, though, so we’ll see.

ROUND TWO

33. JACKSONVILLE: Johnathan Cyprien, S, Fla. International
34. SAN FRANCISCO (From KC): Eric Reid, S, LSU
35. PHILADELPHIA: Kyle Long, G-T, Oregon
36. DETROIT: D.J. Fluker, OG-OT, Alabama
37. CINCINNATI (From OAK): Giovani Bernard, RB, North Carolina
38. JACKSONVILLE (From ARZ): E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida St.
39. N.Y. JETS: Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse
40. TENNESSEE: Alex Okafor, DE, Texas
41. BUFFALO: Larry Warford, G, Kentucky
42. MIAMI: Tank Carradine, DE, Fla. State
43. HOUSTON (from TB): Robert Woods, WR, USC
44. CAROLINA: Terron Armstead, OT, Ark. Pine Bluff
45. SAN DIEGO: Darius Slay, CB, Miss. St.
46. ST. LOUIS: Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
47. DALLAS: D.J. Swearinger, S, South Carolina
48. PITTSBURGH: Kevin Minter, ILB, LSU
49. BUFFALO (from NYG): Matt Barkley, QB, USC
50. CHICAGO: Dallas Thomas, G-T, Tennessee
51. WASHINGTON: Blidi Wreh-Wilson, CB, Connecticut
52. MINNESOTA: Arthur Brown, OLB, Kansas St.
53. CINCINNATI: Travis Frederick, C-G, Wisconsin
54. MIAMI (from IND): Jamar Taylor, CB, Boise St.
55. GREEN BAY: Barrett Jones, OL, Alabama
56. SEATTLE: Datone Jones, DL, UCLA
57. HOUSTON: Ryan Swope, WR, Texas A&M
58. DENVER: T.J. McDonald, S, USC
59. NEW ENGLAND: Alvin Bailey, G, Arkansas
60. ATLANTA: Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU
61. SAN FRANCISCO: Sio Moore, OLB/ILB, Connecticut
62. BALTIMORE: Kevin Reddick, ILB, North Carolina

spacebar bro

Jarvis vs Patterson is so tough for the steelers. Minter in 2 is good

Terrible Terrible Bears Draft. Just horrible. We pass on Arthur Brown twice. No chance. So many good players on the board in the 1st and we take a project tackle. Carimi, Webb, and Scott will be battling for the RT spot. We need a guard. Thomas is a reach though in the second. We would take Barrett or even Fluker in the 1st.

That would be a solid Miami draft. BIG fan of both of those corners. And I LOVE Tank!

That would be an awesome trade down by the Bills.

Then it would be an even better use of the picks getting Patterson @ 19, Barkley and Worford.

Would really love these 1st 2 rnds if it unfolded this way.

That's a pretty terrible draft for the Ravens. Jenkins isn't needed and Reddick is quite the reach in the second round.

Ogletree will have to play Outside for the Bengals to take him. Bernard is fine in the 2nd. They have 2 centers already fighting for starting job and 2 young guards already.

OLB isn't a need, but i'd be okay with Damontre Moore. Nick Perry is young and we still have hopes for him, but he didn't light it up. Moore is great value IMO and he brings something different too Perry. Can never have enough pass rushers. Especially after we just lost Walden.

Yeah, Jones would be good there as well for NO, but I heard that Werner really isn't appropriate for a 3-4.

Barrett probably won't go in the first round, and I have read a few mocks that have Thomas in Round 2. As for Webb, he shouldn't be starting long-term ever again, and Bushrod is more suited for RT because he isn't a great pass blocker.

The fact that Isaac Sopoaga was on the field less than 30% of the defensive snaps makes me believe Baalke doesn't see value in a traditional NT.

Solid Titans mock, would be hard to pass up on Warford in the 2nd. Would love to see us trade backup in the 2nd and get Barrett Jones. We're still in need of a RG.

You had me until the 2nd round. Mingo would be a good pick for the Jets and very likely. Nassib in the 2nd would be disgusting and I don't see Izdik as the type of guy who would reach for a questionable project QB that high. I'm fairly certain he'll go with more of a BPA selection there, at least I hope.

Webb was actually a league average OT last year, and was solidly above average after the SF game last year. He's good enough to start, definitely over a guy who's only played football for a few years. The Bears will most certainly not draft OT in the 1st round after signing Bushrod and having 3 experienced options for RT. And there's less of a chance they take 2 linemen in the first 2 rounds.

But yeah, Barrett Jones may not even be a 2nd round pick if he can't work out before the draft.

that's a lot for the giants to give up to move up and grab a right tackle. not a fan, especially with all the massive holes we have on defense. in a draft this deep, i'd hate to be giving up picks
