Default Draft 2013

We can camplain all we want, but what is done is done.....have we rebounded or should I say have we rebounded to have good discussions? I think we are in a better place. We all love offensive and we got a safety to add competitoion to the secondary.

I think tomorrow....we will see a RB and a OLB OR DL. I think those will be the next 3 picks. I am excited, because I think our 4th round pick can still be a very good player. A lot of players still on the board.

RB Ellington
LB Porter
DE C Washington
DE Devon Taylor
RB Stefon Tayor
RB Joseph Randle

My Favoritie is Randle......I think he adds electricity

Travis Fedrick- Like the player just not where we got him. Glad we got some Oline help but bad value IMO. I would have stayed at 18 and took Floyd

Gavin Escobar- Not really a need position. Not a fast guy but has great hands and if used properly could become a nice option for Romo. I would have taken Larry Warford

Terrance Williams- Not a bad pick, most gave him a 2nd round grade. I wouldnt have had this pick because I stayed at 18 but would have taken Terron Armstead instead.

JJ wilcox- FO seemed to love him and has a big upside and loves to hit people. Should be a starter at some point. I would have taken Damontre Moore.

So staying put, We would have came away with Floyd, Warford, and Moore. I would have wanted more D than the direction we went but hopefully we score 30 PPG and our D doesnt give up more than that lol. Overall I grade our draft a C- up to this point.

That's true. I was using my left over list from today. I knew we weren't going QB today. I hope we get Tyler Bray. He'd be an AWESOME developmental guy. I hope that Dooley connection comes through tomorrow.

@espn_macmahon: Jerry says Travis Frederick, Gavin Escobar and Terrance Williams were all in "early 20s" on their draft board.

Lol.. How fortunate. I'm sure JJ Wilcox was just barely into the 30's

Just thinking about it but our WRs are sick.

WR Dez Bryant
WR Terrance Williams
SLOT Miles Austin

Dwayne Harris, Cole Beasley, Danny Coale. Now I feel like we have our bases covered.

Haha yeah. If they were all in the 20's that's a terrible board.

But I'm sure you know Jerry's talking out of his ass.

In the end, I don't think the trade was worth it, but I can deal with it.

I would've been happier with Eifert at 18.

Safety seems unlikely to be addressed at this point. Doubt we double dip.

Rambo or Duke Williams are worth a pick though. Earl Wolff is a nice player too.

Barrett Jones, Bakhtiari, Quessenberry would all be awesome for the line

Fragle is ok, LT body playing RT -- seems like a swing guy

Jesse Williams could be a nice flier. Good athleticism for a guy his size. Light base though, more of a penetrator despite the weight.

Really good value on RB's. I'm expecting a run on them early.

Franklin, Randle, Lattimore, and Taylor are all interesting.

Have seen rumors linking us to Taylor, although he's the guy I'd least want from that group.

And finally, Quanterus Smith or Cornelius Washington would be solid depth at DE.

Some real good talent still available. RB and DT could be see time as rookies, should be the priority.

OL should be right behind it

Jerry honestly needs to stop talking at this point.

I saw he said something along the lines of "Frederick will start no matter what because he's a first rounder"

Really?

We all know that, but it's an unspoken rule. You just don't say stuff like that.

And yeah, if that's what the board looked like... Holy ****, that accounts for a lot of things over the years

He left the NFL Nework guys rolling on the floor with laughter. Casserley said he used that speech in a few drafts. Just a way of covering up failure.

I would agree with this basically, Too much offensive concentration if you were to ask me. This was a lineman draft but we only went to that well once. 2 pass receivers for a team that already has Bryant and Whitten seems like Jerry is caught up in his own myth, that Romo just needs more weapons to get to the next level????

Yeah this entire draft was a laugher. Oh well, it's done now. Thought they would be able to band-aid that 1st round mistake, but couldn't.

Why are you trolling over here? Nobody minded you over here when you had substance to talk about, but if you're here to spur frustration, then just leave. You're better than that.

We? You're not a Cowboys fan sir. You're a Lions, Bills and Browns fan.

Stop acting like you're in the "we" crowd here. 10K+ posts and you have about 30 in this thread.

His name is not Whitten.

I think RB will be taken tomorrow and I like the names that are still on the board. Didn't think Franklin would still be there. Lattimore, Taylor and Jamison catch my eye the most. I hear you and LL not loving Taylor but the guy is steady and doesn't go down easy. He usually won't go down on the first hit and he has the ability to recover if he gets hit.

I still think we need to do more on the OL. Barrett Jones offers a lot being able to play any position. Another smart tough lineman that I love. I was hoping Hugh Thornton would be there tomorrow but he got gobbled up. If we can land Fragel, I'd be happy with that. Underrated player, imo. Played with a nasty streak at OSU and tested really well. Still new at the position, so his upside is relatively high. Quessenberry is in a similar mold.

If I had to guess, tomorrow this will be our draft.

Round 4: David Quessenberry, OT
Round 5: Stepfan Taylor, RB
Round 6: Kapron Lewis-Moore, DT

UDFA: Kyle Padron, Stansly Maponga, Don Unamba, Matthew Tucker, Jonathan Stewart...

I think we trade down with our 4th rd pick to pick up that 7th pick Jerry wants back. If a trade down nets us anything else (it should), then cool!

This is where we always drop the ball over the past years (rds 4-7). I think they look at a player for special teams too much. Tired of hearing that, we all know how the bottom of the roster has to make the team.
I want players who played their position good/great in College. Who have a chance of coming in here and competing at their position. Special Teams can be taught & will be on the player just how much they want to make the team.

QB - We Draft TE's it seems like every year. Looking for another RB. Bolstered our WR corps.

Umm........5th rd. I'm looking for a QB to bring in here. Orton is in the 2nd year of his 3 year deal. With a cap that's only going to get tighter, we need a young QB who can assume the #2 QB spot.......soon!

My choice is QB, Tyler Wilson Arkansas - The guy is a leader and has a strong Arm.

Lol.. How fortunate. I'm sure JJ Wilcox was just barely into the 30's
Frederick was rated #1 I think. Jerrah said so.

I think the Cowboys pick guys based on YouTube Videos Jerrah sees in his bathrobe while taking a ****. Board shmoard, who needs Scouts when you got YouTube and an eye for talent like Jerrah. SMH, another f*ing 2nd round TE? Really? WR? And again, all reaches. The pathological need to try and prove you are smart than everyone else by playing losing Poker hands every time.

It would be interesting to take a ten year sample for the first three rounds and see who was the #1 player on Kiper's Board and compare to what the Cowboys picked .... and see if simply looking at ESPN and taking Mel's Best Available, the Cowboys would have done better.

(*Yes I know systems matter but let us play along).

I would bet simply watching Mel and taking whoever Mel says and doing ZERO scouting would have worked out better and still left Jerrah and Stephen plenty of cash for coke and Princess Barbie meth-heads.

Well looking at current roster holes:
We need a d-lineman. Right now we have 7 linemen that are assured of a spot next season:Ware, Spencer, Ratliff, Hatcher, Wilber (was moved to DE), Lissemore, Crawford.
I'd love Okafor here, and slide Crawford to fulltime DT.

We need a linebacker (or 2). Starters have been identified with Carter, Lee, and Durant. Lee is always nicked up. You have a decent reserve in Sims. A guy in Alex Albright. And Caleb McSurdy.
Dallas showed a lot of interest in Shawn Porter... where there's smoke...

We need a runningback. Murray has fought injuries dating back to highschool and Tanner provides nothing. Dunbar is an okay #3.
After Alfred Morris I don't have a preference. Some runningback we haven't even thought of will probably end up being the best one in this draft. On the list I suppose Franklin.

Offensive Tackle. Eh, we're all over Doug Free. Parnell doesn't look impressive. This is down the list because there are still some quality guys left in free agency.
I like Fragel who's still learning the position.

Defensive Playmaker. This will probably include double dipping at the safety position, but no one on the roster causes turnovers consistantly. Time to add one.
Rambo (better name than player), Wolff, or Thomas. That would give us Church, Johnson, Allen, Wilcox, and McCray plus another guy... but I'm not sold that Allen HAS to make the roster and McCray is a special teams guy. Those kinds get released and replaced all the time.

I like Bray who I think compares favorably with Tom Brady coming out. Obviously he probably NEVER reaches that level, but as a mid-to-late round selection he's going to get at least 3 years to learn from the bench. Would be a solid pick.

Other guy I like is Zac Dysert. Lots of upside and top intangibles.

Finally.

Matt Scott. Needs LOTS of work, but we're locked into Romo for the next few years anyway. Plenty of time to work out the kinks.

Stop acting like you're in the "we" crowd here. 10K+ posts and you have about 30 in this thread.

His name is not Whitten.
haha I noticed that too. He has like 3 teams and then recently I thought we got added to the bunch. It's been a lot of "we" lately and calling him "Whitten" kinda disqualifies you anyway lol.
